My S/O's Name Taste

My husband and I definitely have different tastes in names. Though some of my favorites grow on him, we still have a different style.

My style is very quirky, vintage-esque. I like mixing classic names that are not so popular now with classical whimsy names. He has a thing for “E” names, as well as, very pretty sounding names.

I thought it would be fun to feature his favorites for once to see what people think. Also, any advice on how to combine our two styles and/or compromise would be super helpful.

Girls:

[name_f]Emily[/name_f]
[name_u]Frankie[/name_u]
[name_u]Marley[/name_u]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]

(We actually agree on a couple of girl’s names! HOORAY!)

Boys:

[name_m]Ezra[/name_m]
[name_m]Etienne[/name_m]
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m]

I really like [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_m]Ezra[/name_m]! [name_f]Emily[/name_f] is nice too but I prefer [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]. [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] and [name_u]Marley[/name_u] I don’t care for on a girl. [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] is a nice classic name but maybe a little boring. [name_m]Etienne[/name_m] is not my style, and I don’t know how to pronounce it so I can’t really comment.

He actually randomly saw the name [name_m]Etienne[/name_m] on the credits of a movie we watched the other day. I’m guessing it’s pronounced Et-te-en. Not my style either! Though [name_m]Eddie[/name_m] or [name_f]Ettie[/name_f] would make for a cute nickname.

According to Nameberry it’s [name_m]French[/name_m] for [name_m]Stephen[/name_m]. So. There ya go, learn something new everyday. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have a [name_m]Stephen[/name_m] in the family? Might be a cool honor middle name.

Hmmm good to know! Thanks for sharing haha. We don’t have any Stephens in our family. But that is a cool thought.

I like all the boys names! I like [name_f]Emily[/name_f] and [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] from the girls. I would say find more names that begin with E for him and are more on the quirky side for you. If he ever felt up to it, I’d say have you both go through names for him to look at; it seems that seeing more options might open his eyes a bit, like with [name_m]Etienne[/name_m]. I posted the E link for behind the name below, but you can search there and narrow by many things: what it starts with, masculine/feminine/unisex, syllables, length, etc.

I know you didn’t ask for options, but I’d figure I’d through some out there. These might be too long or frilly to be considered quirky: [name_f]Euphemia[/name_f], [name_f]Eulalia[/name_f]/[name_f]Eulalie[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]/[name_f]Elodia[/name_f], [name_f]Eliora[/name_f], [name_f]Enid[/name_f], [name_f]Eos[/name_f], Eudocia, Eumelia, [name_f]Evadne[/name_f], or [name_f]Ebba[/name_f]
Boys the first ones that came to mind are [name_m]Eben[/name_m], [name_m]Erling[/name_m], or [name_m]Eloi[/name_m]/[name_m]Eloy[/name_m]
here are some others if you are interested

I like [name_f]Emily[/name_f] (but it’s a bit vanilla - prefer [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] and [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]) and [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] from the girls. I like [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] a lot actually, even though it isn’t my normal style. I just love how down-to-earth and spunky it is.

[name_m]Samuel[/name_m] is OK, [name_m]Etienne[/name_m] is a bit much for me, and [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] is great (but heading up the rankings fast).

It doesn’t really seem like your styles are too too far off. I think you are a little bit more creative though, where as his are a little more conservative (although I do like [name_m]Etienne[/name_m]… That is a character in a book that I am reading right now).
