Does anyone know any good baby girl names with references to myths or classical literature?
For example:
Mythological: [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Persephone[/name_f]
Classics: [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
I like a lot of [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m]’s character names for example [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f].
Mythology wise I like:
Oh my gosh I forgot Celtic! These are a mix of Scottish and Irish as there’s lots of crossover and I often forget which is from where:
[name_f]Bride[/name_f]
Étain
Cailleach
[name_f]Sadhbh[/name_f]
[name_f]Niamh[/name_f]
[name_f]Orlaith[/name_f]
[name_f]Áine[/name_f]
Clídna
[name_m]Bec[/name_m]

Bébinn

[name_f]Epona[/name_f]
Bláthnaid
Duibhe
Aífe
I’m also personally here for [name_f]Selkie[/name_f] and Kelpie becoming given names but I doubt it’ll catch on (both are Scottish mythological creatures)
There are so many amazing suggestions here but I also wanted to add [name_f]Astraea[/name_f] (apologies if I missed seeing it in a previous list)! Also @blueylit [name_f]Selkie[/name_f] is DEFINITELY going on my GP list now.
@midwinter [name_f]Do[/name_f] it! It’s one of my secret wishes to name my future wean something where [name_f]Selkie[/name_f] works as a nn because it’s a wee bit too GP for me to actually use but as of yet I haven’t found any I love (and tbqh I think I’d have to move out of [name_f]Scotland[/name_f] to get away with it)
Here’s some characters from [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] literature
[name_f]Titania[/name_f]
[name_f]Hermia[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
