Mythic boys

Still just TTC and exploring names…

My daughter’s name is from Greek myth ([name_f]Thalia[/name_f], muse of comedy). Names like [name_m]Leander[/name_m] or [name_m]Perseus[/name_m] nn [name_u]Percy[/name_u] are guilty pleasures to me. I like [name_m]Jason[/name_m], but it’s one of my husband’s friend’s names. Any berries have ideas for WEARABLE, pronounceable (in English speaking countries) names from Greek myth?

[name_m]Evander[/name_m], [name_m]Apollo[/name_m], [name_m]Linus[/name_m], [name_m]Atlas[/name_m], [name_u]Orion[/name_u], [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u], [name_m]Simon[/name_m], & [name_m]Damon[/name_m].

Here’s the list where I got some of the ideas maybe you’ll see something I missed!

[name_m]Zeus[/name_m]
[name_m]Apollo[/name_m]
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m]
[name_m]Adonis[/name_m]
[name_m]Eros[/name_m]
Perses
[name_m]Helios[/name_m]
[name_m]Pan[/name_m]
[name_m]Hector[/name_m]
[name_m]Icarus[/name_m]
Laertes
[name_m]Nestor[/name_m]
[name_u]Orion[/name_u]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u]
Phineus
[name_m]Remus[/name_m]
[name_m]Theseus[/name_m]
[name_m]Homer[/name_m]
[name_m]Troy[/name_m]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]

Oh I like [name_m]Simon[/name_m], I knew about the Biblical connection, but not the myth connection! We know a [name_m]Damon[/name_m] AND a [name_m]Damien[/name_m] and an [name_u]Orion[/name_u] already :frowning: Thanks for the ideas!

[name_m]Lysander[/name_m]
[name_m]Pollux[/name_m]
[name_m]Castor[/name_m]
[name_m]Leon[/name_m]
[name_u]Paris[/name_u]
[name_m]Myles[/name_m]
[name_m]Phineas[/name_m]

[name_m]Leon[/name_m] and [name_m]Myles[/name_m] are a bit more obscure. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Paris[/name_u] but it seems to be more popular with the girls at this moment in time. [name_m]Lysander[/name_m] is my favorite though it’s not really mythic (he did claim descent from [name_m]Heracles[/name_m] however).

Adding [name_m]Hector[/name_m] for consideration. I think [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] was an epithet for [name_u]Paris[/name_u], too?

You emphasized wearable and liked [name_m]Jason[/name_m], so I’m assuming names like [name_m]Zeus[/name_m] and [name_m]Achilles[/name_m] are out. I think of these names as the most wearable Greek myth names:
[name_m]Damon[/name_m]
[name_u]Orion[/name_u] (like [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] with an O in front- very wearable!)
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]/[name_m]Leon[/name_m]
[name_m]Hector[/name_m]
Aeson (with the nickname [name_m]Ace[/name_m], maybe?)
[name_m]Troy[/name_m]

These names are a bit less wearable, but they’re not quite Agamemnon, either:
[name_m]Evander[/name_m]
[name_m]Linus[/name_m]
[name_m]Ajax[/name_m]
Arion
Aion
Tyche (This was technically a goddess, but it’s so rare, I think it could work on a boy. And the nickname [name_m]Ty[/name_m] is super wearable and masculine. I think [name_f]Nyx[/name_f] could also work for a boy)
[name_m]Leander[/name_m]

Also, would you consider [name_u]Jace[/name_u]? It comes from [name_m]Jason[/name_m] etymologically but wouldn’t be the same name as your friend. Or would you be open to other mythologies, like Norse or Egyptian? Norse in particular has a lot of very wearable boy names.

My friend named her son [name_m]Adonis[/name_m], and I think it is so handsome!

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_m]Atlas[/name_m] and [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] are too unusual for you?

I’m probably repeating some that were already mentioned…

[name_m]Aeneas[/name_m]
[name_m]Ajax[/name_m]
Aias
Alcides
[name_m]Cadmus[/name_m]
[name_m]Cronus[/name_m]
[name_m]Evander[/name_m]
[name_m]Helios[/name_m]
[name_m]Heracles[/name_m]
Linos / [name_m]Linus[/name_m]
[name_m]Nereus[/name_m] (also a biblical one)
[name_m]Sirius[/name_m]
[name_m]Theseus[/name_m]
Tychon
[name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]

You mentioned [name_m]Leander[/name_m], my son’s name, completely usable if that helps  (His name will be [name_m]Leandro[/name_m], which ends up to be almost the same name)

[name_m]Atlas[/name_m]
[name_m]Adonis[/name_m]
[name_m]Apollo[/name_m]
[name_m]Evander[/name_m]
[name_m]Jupiter[/name_m]
[name_m]Phoebus[/name_m]
[name_m]Ajax[/name_m]
[name_m]Castor[/name_m]
[name_m]Ares[/name_m]
[name_m]Aries[/name_m]
[name_m]Eros[/name_m]
[name_m]Helios[/name_m]
[name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]
