Nadine pronunciation/thoughts?

What do you guys think of it/would you pronounce it nay-deen or nuh-deen? I had only heard the ‘nay’ pronunciation (I grew up with the show [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] haha) but when I looked up the Nameberry description for it, it said it was pronounced ‘nuh’. Does it sound particularly [name_m]French[/name_m]/Russian or has it been americanized?

[name_u]North[/name_u] American here, and only ever heard nay-deen in the US, although I know Spanish speakers who say nuh-deen and it sounds pretty, too. I love [name_f]Nadine[/name_f]. I don’t think it sounds too foreign at all. It’s one of those lovely names that sounds wonderful all over the world.

I’ve online ever heard nay-deen-- but I’m from the southern US.

Nay-deen. I knew an adorable little girl with this name. So now, I love it!

I love [name_f]Nadine[/name_f]! I think it’s really gorgeous and underused. I pronounce it nah-[name_u]DEEN[/name_u]. That’s just me. But I think this name is super pretty.

I’ve always said and preferred Nay-deen, but have recently met a little girl pronounced nuh-[name_u]DEEN[/name_u].
I guess you can pick, btw I’m in Aus, so I think it sounds fine anywhere

I would pronounce it nay-deen. The Acadians ([name_m]French[/name_m]-Canadians) pronounce it nah-din. It is fine but seems dated to me.

I have an aunt [name_f]Nadine[/name_f]. She passed away a few years ago, and my mom has been trying to get me to use the name. I do not like it. I feel like it’s dated, and I just don’t like the sound. She pronounced it nay-[name_u]DEEN[/name_u].

I’ve always heard [name_f]Nadine[/name_f] pronounced nay-deen, too (and I’m Cajun!) I’m on the fence about it–it’s pretty but a little shallow-sounding. I slightly prefer [name_f]Ondine[/name_f].

I’ve only ever heard it Nah-[name_u]DEEN[/name_u], I had no idea there where other pronunciations. I agree that it sounds slightly shallow, but it is still pretty and completely usable.

[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Nadine[/name_f]. It is one of those names I have had on my list for ever! I say, Nay-deen.
