Name dreams?

Has anyone else had dreams about naming their children? What was your dream and what did it make you think? Did it end up influencing your real-life choices, or was it something you laughed off?

This happened a while back in my current pregnancy, but I just thought about it again the other day.

After we found out we were expecting twins, but before we found out genders, we decided to not worry about names. There was no way I was going to tackle the huge task of figuring out 3 different name combinations for twins. That’s a possibility of having to pick and decide combos for at least 12 names! First and middle for g/g, b/b, and g/b. I didn’t want to get into that unless we couldn’t tell genders and Had to.

But, in the middle of the “not thinking about it” time period, I had a dream one night that we found out it was b/g and that we named them [name]James[/name] and [name]Lilly[/name]. I immediately woke up for one of my 2am toilet breaks. On the way, as I was coming out of my sleep-fuzziness, I was thinking: “Hmmm, that’s not bad. I think I like those. [name]James[/name] and [name]Lilly[/name]. [name]James[/name] and [name]Lilly[/name]. [name]Lilly[/name] and [name]James[/name]…wait, [name]Lilly[/name] and [name]James[/name]? [name]Lilly[/name] and [name]James[/name] [name]Potter[/name]!!! Nope, not naming them after [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name]'s parents!”

I had one ages ago that I had a daughter named [name]Rissa[/name]. Drove me crazy when I tried to look it up and couldn’t really find anything about it

I don’t think I’d ever use it, but for a while there I was sure it was a sign that I was destined to name my first daughter [name]Rissa[/name]!

I had a dream that my aunt named her baby [name]Jeb[/name]. The name [name]Jeb[/name] hadn’t been mentioned by her or anyone else, and had never been a name I thought twice about, but ever since that dream, I’ve loved it. Unfortunately, my husband nixed it.

I actually had nightmare a couple of days ago that I had a daughter and that she was in danger. I was running about everywhere trying to find her, and I started to shout out “Prim! [name]Primrose[/name]! Prim!”, and I could hear her screaming. It was a horrible dream, but [name]Primrose[/name] is my favourite name. [name]Even[/name] my subconscious knows it.

I’m not pregnant, but last night I dreamed I named my daughter [name]Ninah[/name]. Not [name]Nina[/name], but [name]Ninah[/name]-- rhymes with [name]Dinah[/name].

I thought it was kind of pretty!

I kept hoping I would have a dream telling me what I should name my daughter (due in 2.5 weeks!). Then I finally dreamt about it and it was a name I’ve hated since I was a child – [name]Eunice[/name]! I just don’t like it; so disappointing!

I had a dream I gave birth to a wonderful baby boy who I thought was just perfect. I remember his face clearly and everything, the most vivid baby dream I’ve had yet.
And his name was [name]Nathaniel[/name], which is the number one name on my list. I’m hoping it’s a prediction, because everything about him and the dream was perfect.

I’ve had plenty of dreams where I have children but none recently and only one had any names. I had three boys and they were [name]Eric[/name], [name]James[/name] and [name]Robert[/name] but that was almost 4 years ago.

I keep having (day) dreams about a person called Swallow. [name]Lovely[/name] apart from the fact that everyone thinks of swallowing instead of the bird. Ugh!

I’ve had dreams of other people’s children! I had a dream my close family friend had infant twins named [name]Hudson[/name] and [name]Lola[/name], which actually sound cute to me! Then my mom in another dream had twins named Cordelius [name]Geraldo[/name] and [name]Cordelia[/name] [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Geralda[/name], oh goodness! All my dreams are about twin boy and girls though

I had a dream where a father was calling his two young daughters an they were called flavia and junia

My (future) son’s name came to me in a dream when I was fifteen. I don’t usually have vivid dreams like this, and I come from a very conservative background that doesn’t really believe in prophetic dreams, but it was intensely spiritual.

I was on top of this mountain, a huge craggy snow-covered mountain in a range of other such mountains as far as the eye could see. I was standing on a cliff of sorts, where you could see down into a valley so deep the bottom was out of sight. My arms were bare and I could feel the cold, but I wasn’t freezing (which if you know me, is impossible). I was giving birth, on this mountain, and no one was there but God. It’s very hard to explain because there was no visible or audible indication of this, but my dream was full to the brim with God’s presence. And when I delivered the baby, I named him [name]Zion[/name]…the mountain of God.

It was a crazy, deep, intense dream for a fifteen year old to have…and whether it was prophetic in some way or not, who knows. But ever since then, I’ve known that the name of my firstborn son will be [name]Zion[/name]

Pretty much every time I dream about having a baby, I name it [name]Tyler[/name]… no idea why. [name]Tyler[/name] is nowhere near the list of names I’d consider.

Ooh, this isn’t a “naming my baby” dream, but name-related anyway- When I live in Spain, my friends and I frequented this one particular bar. There were two brothers running, it, we found out one of the guys is named [name]Federico[/name] but still hadn’t figured out the other one’s name. [name]One[/name] night, the bar scenario crept in to my dream and all of a sudden I’m calling the other brother “[name]Hermano[/name]”, and I woke in a fog, feeling like some kind of brilliant person for dreaming ‘the’ name, and then I soon realized that “hermano” is the Spanish word for “brother”.

I had a dream a few years ago that I had two daughters, [name]Jade[/name] and [name]Luna[/name]. They were both toddlers and looked like twins but I think one was supposed to be younger then the other. [name]Jade[/name] and [name]Luna[/name] are not my style but nice. They are strikingly similar to what I would name twin daughters ([name]Kate[/name] & [name]Lila[/name]) so that’s probably where they came from. They were so cute and I hope that if I ever have two daughters in the future they look just like them!

A few years back, I dreamed that I was introducing a blonde haired toddler girl in a red party dress to my aunt, and her name was [name]Anneliese[/name], which, if I recall correctly, was a favorite of mine at the time.

I had a dream last year that I had a baby, and whatever name we gave the baby (not sure if it was a girl or boy), the logical the nn was Ezzie. In the middle of the dream, I realized the baby had the same nn as my nephew [name]Ezra[/name], nn Ezzie, then started freaking out that my sister would be so mad at me for stealing her son’s name. When I woke up, I couldn’t remember the baby’s name. I wracked my brain to try to figure out what other name would be nicknamed Ezzie, and the only thing I could come up with was [name]Ezekiel[/name], which is definitely not a name I would use in real life! (BTW my nephew’s name really is [name]Ezra[/name]; that was the only part of the dream that was true.)

While I was pregnant, I dreamt that I gave birth to a baby girl and named her [name]Victoria[/name] [name]Marie[/name]. I was absolutely in love with the name in the dream, really patting myself on the back about it. I carried her out to meet my family and announced the name. My father called her [name]Vicki[/name], and I realized immediately that I needed to re-name her.

I once had a dream that I had a little girl named [name]Lita[/name]. We kept calling her “[name]Lita[/name] one” (like “little one”) which I thought was pretty cute and made me like the name! Not sure if I’d ever use it though.

My DH had a dream 2 years before [name]Jax[/name] was born, that he had a son named [name]John[/name]. He would not change his mind after that. When I was pregnant, that’s the only name he wanted to use. [name]Hence[/name], [name]John[/name] [name]Alexander[/name].

I once had a dream when my Fiance and I first started dating that we had a baby girl and named her [name]Raelynn[/name]. The name wasn’t anything I was planning on using or had heard on a child before. That’s the only dream I have had about names.
