Name for a cop with a military background?

I need some suggestions for a ex-cop with a military background. He’s africian-american from Philedelphia, 40-years-old, 5’10" tall with a average build. He has warm brown eyes, short black hair which curls when it grows out too much. He’s is soft-spoken, quiet and calm in any situation. He’s smart and good with technology. He seems to know everything about everything. He has problems with relationships…he doesn’t open up about himself, doesn’t trust easily and needs to be in control.

His last name is Hawkins. Over the course of the novel most will call him by his last name, but I still need to have a first name in place.

I keep wanting to call him [name]Robin[/name]. My sister suggested [name]Reginald[/name] (nn. reggie), but [name]Reggie[/name] seems to “teenager” to me.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Before I read his last name I thought of [name]Chuck[/name]. With the last name Hawkins it clashes a little but I don’t think it is that bad.
