A few days ago many of us named imaginary girl quints. I named mine [name]Maud[/name] [name]Henriette[/name], [name]Frances[/name] [name]Emmeline[/name], [name]Blythe[/name] [name]Isadora[/name], [name]Zelda[/name] [name]Marguerite[/name] and [name]Lilac[/name] [name]Susanna[/name] - first names I have loved for years and middle names that are family names. I guess the joke was on me because I just found out I’m having my fifth boy! [name]Don[/name]‘t misunderstand -I adore my boys and would be happy to have a dozen of them - I’ve always been a tomboy more than a girly girl anyway. It’s just the timing of the girl quints blog and finding out that we’re completing our boys’ basketball team that struck my OH and me as funny.
We would love some help with names for our little bean. Our list is as follows: Imri, [name]Lev[/name], [name]Oren[/name], [name]Malachi[/name] and [name]Eben[/name] for first names.
Our middles are all family names: [name]Lionel[/name], [name]Sebastien[/name], [name]Reuben[/name], [name]Solomon[/name], [name]Ephraim[/name] and [name]Isaac[/name].
Our four darlings are aged 8 to 2 and their names are: [name]Asher[/name] [name]David[/name], [name]Boaz[/name] [name]Arthur[/name], [name]Simon[/name] [name]Frederick[/name] and [name]Jethro[/name] [name]Noah[/name]. Again, first names that we love and middles from family. Their nicknames are [name]Ash[/name] ,[name]Bo[/name], [name]Si[/name] and [name]Jet[/name].
Can you help with suggestions and combos for our newest nubbin?
By the way, our last name begins with F and is three syllables long.
I love [name]Oren[/name]. Such a handsome name. [name]Oren[/name] [name]Ephraim[/name]. [name]Lucky[/name] you to have such wonderful names in the family! You are blessed.
[name]Hi[/name] [name]Cynthia[/name] [name]Jane[/name], welcome to Nameberry. [name]Oren[/name] and [name]Eben[/name] are too similar to [name]Simon[/name]. [name]Even[/name] though I realize their full names, Imri looks like a nn more than a full name to me and [name]Lev[/name] looks like it’s missing an “i”. I like [name]Malachi[/name] (nn [name]Kai[/name]?) the best of your options because his name is the most different from [name]Asher[/name], [name]Boaz[/name], [name]Simon[/name] and [name]Jethro[/name] (a great foursome by the way! :)). My favourite combos would be [name]Malachi[/name] [name]Sebastien[/name], [name]Malachi[/name] [name]Reuben[/name] and [name]Malachi[/name] [name]Solomon[/name]. [name]Do[/name] these long combos sound ok with your three-syllable “F” surname?
[name]Hi[/name] everyone! Thank for the great welcome and great suggestions. Our last name is three syllables and ends in -day, if that helps.
Imri is a variation of the [name]German[/name] [name]Emory[/name] and means industrious. I know it’s a bit unusual, but it is a real name. [name]Lev[/name] is not a short form of [name]Levi[/name], although it may look like it. [name]Lev[/name] means lion in Hebrew and [name]Levi[/name] means attached.
[name]Mischa[/name], you’re right about [name]Oren[/name] and [name]Eben[/name] being too close to our [name]Simon[/name] - I hadn’t thought of that. I do so love both of those names. I really like your suggestions of [name]Micah[/name], [name]Cyrus[/name] and [name]Omri[/name]. I’ll be running these be my OH tonight for sure!
Tfzolghadr - What a great suggestion for using [name]Ephraim[/name] as a first name. It’s from my husband’s family - an adored great uncle from his childhood. We’ll be discussing this tonight also.
[name]Malachi[/name] stands out to me from your first name list. It’s a perfect fit with [name]Asher[/name], [name]Boaz[/name], [name]Simon[/name], and [name]Jethro[/name]. I like [name]Malachi[/name] [name]Sebastien[/name] and [name]Malachi[/name] [name]Ephraim[/name]. I want to love [name]Malachi[/name] [name]Reuben[/name], but there were three Reubens in my graduating class and they were all awful. I have a nasty bias against it.
I support the idea of putting [name]Ephraim[/name] and [name]Isaac[/name] into the running for the first name.

I really like the idea of either [name]Ephraim[/name] or [name]Reuben[/name] as first name options. Honestly, the only first name option of yours that I like is [name]Malachi[/name]. The others just seem too short and incomplete in comparison with your other sons’ wonderful names!
BTW, I love your style of funky Biblical names. A dear old friend just had a [name]Boaz[/name], too! Incidentally, one of his cousins happens to be a [name]Malachi[/name]. (They call him [name]Chi[/name] for short, pr. “keye” like Cuy, the Southern name.)
Great suggestions from you guys! OH and I had a major discussion regarding all your ideas. Our new list of first names is:
[name]Malachi[/name], [name]Ephraim[/name], [name]Reuben[/name] and [name]Isaac[/name].
Middles are [name]Lionel[/name], [name]Sebastien[/name] and [name]Solomon[/name].
My OH really liked [name]Micah[/name], but he doesn’t like [name]Mike[/name] for a nickname. He says most boys get a nickname whether they like it or not and he’s picked all the nicknames for our boys so far. He loves [name]Cyrus[/name], as do I, but the nn would sound the same as our [name]Simon[/name], who is [name]Si[/name]. It would just be spelled [name]Cy[/name]. Sad to give up [name]Cyrus[/name]. Oh, well, sigh.
[name]Reuben[/name] would be [name]Ben[/name] or Reu - we like both.
[name]Malachi[/name] would be [name]Chi[/name] or [name]Mac[/name]
[name]Isaac[/name] would be Iz or [name]Izzy[/name]
We need help with a nn for [name]Ephraim[/name]. My Oh loves the idea of using his great- uncle’s name, but we’re both stumped regarding a nickname.
Any great ideas?
I really don’t think an [name]Ephraim[/name] needs a nn. It’s only 2 simple syllables, and there are no obvious nns that will pop out at people. “Eff”? “Rum”? [name]Remy[/name]? The only one I can come up with is “[name]Ray[/name]” out of the middle? But I think most people pronounce it “eff-rum” or “eff-rem” so the “[name]Rai[/name]” is kind of a stretch.
In combos, I like [name]Malachi[/name] [name]Solomon[/name], [name]Malachi[/name] [name]Sebastien[/name], [name]Reuben[/name] [name]Sebastien[/name], and [name]Isaac[/name] [name]Lionel[/name], [name]Reuben[/name] [name]Ephraim[/name], maybe [name]Ephraim[/name] [name]Lionel[/name]…[name]Ephraim[/name] seems the hardest to match with your mn options?
