Name for a Newfie!

My husband and I will be getting a Newfie (Newfoundland) in the near future probably in less than 3 months. We are getting a male for sure but we don’t know for sure what color. I am trying to gather a few names so we have a list to choose from. This is what I have so far.

  • Kraemer (From Seinfeld, I think Kramer has a similar personality to a dog and crazy black hair so it fits, I just spell it with an extra E)

  • [name]Windsor[/name] (As in Canadian Whiskey, Newfoundlands are from [name]Canada[/name] obviously)

  • [name]Magnus[/name] (This one I love for humans but doesn’t seem usable so why not on a dog, plus it seems strong like a big dog name should, It’s the [name]King[/name]'s name on [name]Snow[/name] White and The Huntsman <3)

  • Bogart “Bogey” (This one is cool but still has a silly nickname option)

  • Samson (My husband’s only suggestion, he’s so much help right?, I don’t like this one it seems too popular for big dogs.)

I need some more suggestions as my husband doesn’t love any of mine except Windsor.

Bogey the Newfie is hilarious! That gets my vote.

Otherwise I vote for [name]Newton[/name]. [name]Newt[/name] the Newfie. haha!

I vote for [name]Magnus[/name], I love it!

Didn’t know if you want some Newfoundland inspired names. ( I’m a newfoundlander)
Jiggs (inspiration is our jigs dinner)
Mummer ( person in disguised during [name]Christmas[/name])
Sliveen (A mischievious person) I love this one
Lassy (molasses)

Jiggs is cool and Lassy would be for a girl! [name]Even[/name] though everyone would think I got it from [name]Lassie[/name] the [name]Collie[/name].

When we lived in [name]Canada[/name] we adopted an older Newfie that we adored. His name was [name]Norman[/name], after Stormin’ [name]Norman[/name] Schwarzkopf, and we called him Normey, it so suited him! He was a great, great dog.

Other names:

[name]Gilbert[/name], from [name]Anne[/name] of [name]Green[/name] Gables
[name]Gordon[/name], many Canadian politicians are named [name]Gordon[/name], [name]Cameron[/name], and [name]Graham[/name]
St [name]John[/name], pronounced [name]Sinjin[/name], after St Johns Newfoundland
Any Scottish name will do, such as [name]Rabbie[/name], Tammas, [name]Sandy[/name], [name]Jock[/name], [name]Tavish[/name], [name]Malcolm[/name], [name]Mac[/name], etc
[name]Magnus[/name] is good; also, since it was [name]Leif[/name] Erikssen who had the first European colony in Newfoundland, you could choose a Viking name as well.

Newfies are lovable and playful, so keep that in mind. Doesn’t he already have his kennel name?
