I’ve been roughing out a story and I really can’t decide on a name for my main character.
She’s a 19-20 year old girl, who works in a motorcycle repair shop in her free time. Most of the supporting cast is male, so I think I’d like to have a masculine type name (or at least a name with a boy-ish kind of nickname). She is quite fiesty and would not hesitate to start throwing punches.
As of right I’m using [name_m]Jax[/name_m] as a place holder (just a little Sons of Anarchy reference, haha) but I have considered names like Isbell, [name_u]Ryan[/name_u], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] ([name_u]Joey[/name_u]), Isley, [name_u]Elliot[/name_u], and some intials like JC, TJ, etc.
Her last name will most likely be [name_m]Shepard[/name_m] or [name_m]Breaker[/name_m], not too sure yet.
I have always been fond of [name_u]Dorian[/name_u] for a tough girl. I can’t recall how Nameberry categorises it in terms of gender, but it’s one of those names where I often see it classed as a unisex name, but only ever meet/read about it on guys. In any case, I feel like a girl named [name_u]Dorian[/name_u] could really throw a punch ;p
My favorites are [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] ([name_u]Joey[/name_u]).
A [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] girl would mostly be nicknamed [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and a Isbell, [name_f]Belle[/name_f]. Too girly, I believe.
All four of these are also amongst my favourite non-gendered names. [name_u]Logan[/name_u] especially has a pretty sound, but is inescapably tough since it belongs to [name_m]Wolverine[/name_m] ;p
