My other suggestion is [name_f]Suvi[/name_f] - it’s a beautiful Finnish name that would work in [name_u]America[/name_u] very easily and also fits in to the sounds of Hawaiian names.

[name_u]Madison[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] feels very popular since it’s in the top 10 girl names, and with Avielle I do think you risk having people think it’s [name_f]Arielle[/name_f]. But, it’s up to you how much you care about either of those things.
I voted [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] too. I like [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Nia[/name_f] and [name_u]Kalani[/name_u] as well, but I’m not keen on the middle names for the first two, and I do think it would be odd to give your daughter a name which means “my fish” to half of her family. Have you considered [name_f]Leilani[/name_f]?
My vote is for [name_u]Kalani[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], very beautiful. I also think [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f] would be beautiful as a first.

I still think [name_u]Kalani[/name_u] is even more beautiful, but it kinda bugs me that it means “my fish” in Finnish - even though it’s pronounced a little differently than the name [name_u]Kalani[/name_u] in English. When I asked about the names in Finnish forum, the other moms said that [name_u]Kalani[/name_u] totally won’t work in Finnish and it’s an absolute no-no. But they probably didn’t quite catch that the pronunciation is different…
I know this wasn’t an option you listed, but [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_u]Kalani[/name_u] seems like a really usable name that hearkens back to both of your histories. Apart from that, I really like [name_f]Elodie[/name_f].
And honestly, if it’s important to you that the name work in Finnish, I wouldn’t use [name_u]Kalani[/name_u] as the first name. I tried putting myself in your Finnish family’s shoes, and I think that if I had a daughter who was naming a child in a different language, and she told me that it was important that the name work in English, and then she named her child Myfish, I’d find that weird and I don’t think it’d make me feel like reflecting my heritage were important to her.

I agree [name_f]Eleonora[/name_f] would work well as a first name. As far as “my fish”, I guess that depends how much time you would be spending in Finland. If its really a concern, maybe move it to the middle spot? I love [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_u]Kalani[/name_u]

It’s definitely true that [name_u]Kalani[/name_u] is not reflecting my Finnish heritage at all. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I have never lived in Finland and my parents and siblings live here in [name_u]America[/name_u], Finland and Finnish language are still a part of me. Thank you for your opinion, oregano7. This is really a kind of complicated situation.
