Name for baby #3

Our newest addition is another little boy, joining older sister S3lah [name_f]Plum[/name_f] and older brother Sh3pherd [name_m]Keane[/name_m]. Our last name is very Italian and rhymes with cannoli.

We have a few name ideas but nothing has been decided just yet. We prefer not too popular names and really like two syllables. A few ideas my spouse and I agree on, along with some of my questions about them:

[name_m]Ransom[/name_m] (was suggested in another thread and I love it, but is this usable in every day life?)
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] (does [name_m]Kip[/name_m] work as a nickname?)
[name_u]Scout[/name_u] (will this lead to silly jokes about being a “Boy Scout”?)
[name_u]Asa[/name_u] (cute but it feels short to me)

Any opinions welcome! Thank you!

Your kids’ names are fabulous!!

I love [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] and I think [name_m]Kip[/name_m] totally works! [name_m]Ransom[/name_m] and [name_u]Asa[/name_u] are nice too!!

With S3l@h and Sh3ph3rd, I’ll suggest

[name_m]Otto[/name_m]
[name_m]Tobias[/name_m]
[name_m]Alec[/name_m]
[name_m]Pascal[/name_m]
[name_u]Lennon[/name_u]

I think [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] works great with your other kids, and [name_m]Kip[/name_m] is a fun nickname. I personally know a [name_m]Ransom[/name_m] and it works well. So those two get my vote!

I don’t like [name_u]Asa[/name_u] as much with your set, maybe because it has the same vowel sound pattern as [name_f]Selah[/name_f]?

I personally wouldn’t use it as a first name irl, and I am usually fairly daring when it comes to names. I realize for some it has pleasant religious or spiritual connections, but my immediate thought always goes to ransom as in a payment/bribe. Obviously people have used it before (including a user on here, I can’t remember her username), so if it is the name I’m sure it would be workable. And it is handsome.

I think Kip works fantastically as a nickname for Caspian! That’s a new idea for me, and you would have to lead with calling him that, and then I’m sure others would follow. Love Caspian.

I had never thought of this. I can’t really answer with experience, as boy scouts aren’t much of a thing where I live. I love the name Scout, and how it goes with your children’s names.

This one is probably my least favourite on your list, but not for much good reason. It is simply nms. I wonder if it might be what the pp said as well, it is a bit similar to S3lah, also depending on how you pronounce S3lah.

I also want to say how much I adore your children’s names, first and middles! What an incredible naming job you’ve done.

I love [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] with your sibset.

For what it’s worth, I have a [name_u]Scout[/name_u] (g) and no one brings up girl/Boy Scouts.

Warmest congratulations, @mallorysusan. Exceptional sibling set! Ransom is perfect (and perfectly usable) with S3lah and Sh3pherd. May I also suggest: Creed.

Thank you! I really like [name_m]Brody[/name_m] and [name_u]Jonah[/name_u]!

Thank you for the breakdown and for the compliment! I feel like #3 has some big shoes to fill with his siblings names ha.

Thank you for the list!

I really like [name_m]Caspian[/name_m]! I think [name_m]Kip[/name_m] would work, and I also wanted to suggest [name_m]Cap[/name_m] as a nickname.
