Name for baby brother?

Hello! I posted a few weeks ago for help naming our second son. I had two names I liked, but the list has only grown since then, and instead of eliminating we just keep adding! I feel like I’ll never name this boy.

[name_f][/name_f]

Our older son is [name_m]Reed[/name_m] [name_m]Sawyer[/name_m]. We love his name because it has meaning to both myself and my husband. He is a hunter, and we love nature inspired names. We chose the spelling [name_m]Reed[/name_m] over [name_m]Reid[/name_m] because it was deer spelled backwards. We also love that it’s a nod to “read,” and that [name_m]Sawyer[/name_m] was literary inspired, because of my interests.

[name_f][/name_f]

So because we have the perfect name for our son, naming baby brother has been especially difficult. Here’s our list so far, can I please get some opinions and maybe even a few suggestions? Middle name is almost definitely [name_m]Samuel[/name_m].

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Archer[/name_m][name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- I do feel like this one checks some of the same boxes that [name_m]Reed[/name_m] does as far as connecting to both of our interests. It has the obvious nature/hunting connection to archery, but I also like the [name_m]Taylor[/name_m] [name_m]Swift[/name_m] reference. [name_f]My[/name_f] negative with this one is that I don’t love the flow with our last name, which has a prominant “ch” sound, but I’m not sure if this is something to truly be concerned with or not.
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Ridge[/name_m][name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- This is my husband’s number 1 favorite. I do like it, I think it’s strong and cool, but worried it’s a little too odd[name_f][/name_f]. Something I love is the matching R’s with [name_m]Reed[/name_m]. It’s not necessary, but I kind of like the idea.
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Forest[/name_m][name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- Another top contender that my husband loves, but we are very concerned about the connection to [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] Gump. I know the spelling is different, but people will associate it. [name_m]Or[/name_m] will they? Is the newer generation even concerned with that movie anymore?
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]River[/name_m][name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- Another R name that I love, but my husband thinks it’s too popular. I again love the matching R’s.
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Finn[/name_m][name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- One of my favorites, but again my husband is not convinced. The popularity is probably the biggest factor, and he thinks it might be a little too feminine (too close to Finley?). But I think [name_m]Reed[/name_m] and [name_m]Finn[/name_m] is the best sibset.
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Bear[/name_m][name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- probably the bottom of our list, but for some reason I can’t let go of it. I think it’s strong and cool.

[name_f][/name_f]

Advice? Guidance? Opinions? How do you choose when I could literally picture them all on this little boy?

I really love Archer for you. Ridge is cool and would be my 2nd choice, however I do feel Ridge & Reed would get very tongue tied. Forest would come in 3rd, and I do feel the forrest gump association is fading.

Some other’s Id suggest
Hunter- maybe a little too on the nose, but I do feel it matches the style of Reed.
Chase
Boone
Ranger
Riggs
Roan
Flint- similar in sound & feel to Finn, but a little more unique and has a hunting tie.
Colt
Gage
Chance

[name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] sounds fantastic, thats definitely my favourite for you. [name_m]Ah[/name_m], sorry, I read your comment fully [name_f][/name_f]- perhaps it isn’t right if it clashes with the sound of your surname.

[name_f][/name_f]

Suggestions: [name_m]Rook[/name_m], [name_m]Ridger[/name_m], [name_m]Beck[/name_m].

Is [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] your style at all? I just mentioned it on another post and thought I’d pop back to comment in case you like it.

I really like [name_m]Finn[/name_m] for you! It doesn’t feel overly feminine in anyway to me [name_f][/name_f]- more like gentle but rugged. It fits well with [name_m]Reed[/name_m], has the [name_m]Huckleberry[/name_m] [name_m]Finn[/name_m] reference, and is word-adjacent (and water-y [name_f][/name_f]- ie. fish have fins)

[name_f][/name_f]

I also enjoy [name_m]Forest[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- rugged, warm and charming. I know the movie, but I wouldn’t really think of it on meeting a [name_m]Forest[/name_m].

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Archer[/name_m] is great too [name_f][/name_f]- handsome, gentle but solid. I think the CH depends on where it is in the name, how the two names flow, what the other sounds are. [name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_m]March[/name_m] might be a bit much but [name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_m]Fletch[/name_m] could work, for example.

[name_m]Finn[/name_m] is a boy name to me. I think it works very well with [name_m]Reed[/name_m]. Also, the literary connection with [name_m]Huck[/name_m] [name_m]Finn[/name_m] certainly adds to it.

[name_f][/name_f]

Btw I have never heard the girl name [name_m]Finley[/name_m] shortened to [name_m]Finn[/name_m] of all the Finleys I’ve met or heard of from friends and family.

I like [name_m]Forest[/name_m] the best, by far, even with the concerns you listed. Seconding [name_m]Ranger[/name_m] and [name_m]Ridger[/name_m],

[name_f][/name_f]

Suggestions:
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Grey[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Robin[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Flint[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Laurence[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Martin[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Ronan[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Bridger[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Jett[/name_m]

I think all those options work well! In particular I like [name_m]Finn[/name_m] and [name_m]Archer[/name_m].

[name_f][/name_f]

Some more ideas:
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Brooks[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Wells[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Wade[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Callum[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Rhodes[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Rune[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Rook[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Roan[/name_m] / [name_m]Rowan[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Rhett[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Ryder[/name_m] / [name_m]Ryker[/name_m]

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

I think [name_m]Forest[/name_m] is my top choice. You might get a few[name_f][/name_f] references but I don’t think it’ll be the main thing people think of over an actual forest.

[name_f][/name_f]

Second is probably [name_m]Ridge[/name_m].

[name_f][/name_f]

A few options with meanings connected to “bear”

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Orson[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Barrett[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Torben[/name_m]

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]Orson[/name_m], and [name_m]Torben[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] are all very handsome options.

[name_f][/name_f]

A few other nature-y ones (I think I love [name_m]Cedar[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] the most with older bro’s name):

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Cove[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Alder[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] (potential [name_m]Archer[/name_m] alternative? Same # of syllables and initial letter without the “ch”)
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Cedar[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]

[name_f][/name_f]

Hopefully this helps!

[name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] or [name_m]Forest[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] with [name_m]Reed[/name_m] are great choices! The matching “ch” sound would only be a problem IMO if it makes the names rhyme. I also don’t think the [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] Gump movie will be a concern—even if it does come up occasionally, it would mostly be an endearing reference. Hoping you find something that works and is also meaningful to you!

From your list my top two is [name_m]Ridge[/name_m] and [name_m]Forest[/name_m]! Surprisingly I really like [name_m]Ridge[/name_m], and paired with [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] sounds beautiful!

[name_f][/name_f]

However I would note that while [name_m]Reed[/name_m] and [name_m]Ridge[/name_m] will have that matching R (which I love) with the middle name [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] that means both brothers will have the exact same initials their whole lives.

[name_f][/name_f]

Not sure if initials are a big thing where you live like they are in the south. So just something to think about! Some suggestions I like for you;

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Boone[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Hunter[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Austin[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Gaige[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Rhett[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Walker[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Waylon[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Brooks[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Banks[/name_m]

Of your choices, I like [name_m]River[/name_m] best!

[name_f][/name_f]

Couple of other options not mentioned: [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] or [name_m]Stone[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]

Well

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Reed[/name_m] [name_m]Sawyer[/name_m] and [name_m]Ridge[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m].

[name_f][/name_f]

It would.mean that the first and middle Names jave the same first Letter

[name_f][/name_f]

I personally like:
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Reed[/name_m] [name_m]Sawyer[/name_m] and
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Finn[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
