Name for baby girl #2

Hello fellow berries!

My husband and I are expecting another girl in a few more weeks and we are still undecided/confused what name to give her.

Our firstborn is [name_f]Amber[/name_f] [name_f]Chantal[/name_f], and we were thinking of giving our new baby the same initials A.C.

We were considering [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], but would like to have suggestions on what second name to give her that starts with C.

Also, what are your thoughts on the name [name_f]Alanis[/name_f]?

Any inputs will be appreciated. Thank you so much.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]! Not a fan of [name_f]Alanis[/name_f] (reminds me of anus, sorry), but I do like the similar [name_f]Alana[/name_f].

[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Capri[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_u]Carmen[/name_u]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlize[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_u]Cheyenne[/name_u]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Christine[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Corinne[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f]

Congratulations on your second baby girl!

I personally think [name_f]Amber[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] look too similar with the Am- beginnings.

Also, will you have any more children in the future? [name_m]Will[/name_m] you want to give them all the same initials? Is there a special reason you want to do this?

[name_f]Alanis[/name_f] is quite pretty and unusual, with nickname potential ([name_u]Allie[/name_u] or [name_f]Lana[/name_f]).

Another vote for [name_f]Alanis[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] isn’t too common and too similar when paired with [name_f]Amber[/name_f]. [name_f]Alanis[/name_f] will be well known because of the singer but still very uncommon.

[name_f]Alana[/name_f] and [name_f]Alaina[/name_f] are other possibilities.

[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Cara[/name_f]
[name_f]Callista[/name_f]
[name_f]Calliope[/name_f]
[name_f]Calla[/name_f]
[name_f]Carys[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Corinne[/name_f]
[name_f]Coral[/name_f]
[name_f]Carol[/name_f]
[name_f]Celeste[/name_f]
[name_f]Chiara[/name_f]
[name_f]Cosette[/name_f]
[name_f]Catalina[/name_f]
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlene[/name_f]

I wouldn’t do the A.C. initials because you might trap yourself in a theme you may not want to continue. Matching initials are cute for twins but not very cute for sisters. Plus A.C. really? If you insist on the theme, [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Celine[/name_f] came to mind first. I think [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is far too popular maybe wait a few years or try it in the middle name. ([name_f]Celina[/name_f] [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] is adorable.) She will most likely have 5 other little Amelias in her class. Which could be a good or bad thing, I saw someone say they enjoyed sharing a name because they had their own little club. Then I saw many others say they wished they would have named their child something different. I don’t really like [name_f]Alanis[/name_f] it looks like [name_u]Alani[/name_u] with an s on the end and with the pronouncation (or what i think is the pronouncation) it sounds like [name_f]Alana[/name_f] and es smashed together. I also have to agree that anus came to mind. I love [name_f]Alana[/name_f] or [name_u]Alani[/name_u] though, very cute and uncommon. Plus both will age well. I’m sorry for my absolutely honest opinion haha.

[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Carys[/name_f] would be very pretty

[name_f]Alanis[/name_f] feels very dated to me I think it will forever be trapped in the 90s thanks to [name_f]Alanis[/name_f] moriesett

Other Options
[name_f]Annika[/name_f]*(on-nick-ah) [name_f]Celeste[/name_f]
[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] “[name_u]Penny[/name_u]” [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f] [name_f]Corinne[/name_f]
[name_f]Anya[/name_f] [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u]
[name_f]Audra[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_f]Ashlyn[/name_f] [name_f]Cate[/name_f]
[name_f]Aquinnah[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] “[name_u]Quinn[/name_u]”
[name_f]Amalia[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_u]Allison[/name_u] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] “[name_u]Rory[/name_u]” [name_f]Calliope[/name_f]
[name_f]Amy[/name_f] Chevelle
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f] [name_f]Cecily[/name_f]

[name_f]Amber[/name_f] & [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is sweet. …are you sure you want to do matching initials? You might feel that future children have to continue the pattern.

[name_f]Amber[/name_f] & [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] don’t seem to have the same “feel” for me ([name_f]Amber[/name_f] is more modern & [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] more classic), plus having both of the names start w/Am- gives me pause. And [name_f]Amber[/name_f]'s two syllables seems very short next to [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]'s four. If you really like both of the names to start w/Am-, what about [name_f]Amy[/name_f]/[name_f]Aimee[/name_f]/[name_f]Amie[/name_f], or [name_f]Amelie[/name_f]? Or:

[name_f]Annika[/name_f]
[name_f]Anya[/name_f] (Ahn-ya)
[name_u]Alexis[/name_u]
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u]/[name_f]Aubree[/name_f]
[name_f]Autumn[/name_f]

For middle names, maybe…

[name_f]Corinna[/name_f]
[name_f]Christina[/name_f]
[name_f]Coretta[/name_f]
[name_f]Chloe[/name_f]
[name_f]Coral[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]/[name_f]Celia[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Carolina[/name_f]
[name_f]Charmian[/name_f]

Good luck!

I agree that [name_f]Amber[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] are very similar and I don’t care much for [name_f]Alanis[/name_f]. My first thought was [name_f]Alaina[/name_f]/[name_f]Alayna[/name_f].

[name_f]Allegra[/name_f]
[name_f]Annora[/name_f]
[name_f]Arista[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Ariana[/name_f]/[name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]

For middles, my favourite for you is [name_f]Claire[/name_f]. Or also [name_f]Cate[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], or [name_f]Cecily[/name_f].

Since [name_f]Amber[/name_f] is Definitely an 80’s name I would stick with [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]! Try these on for size!
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Corrine[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Colleen[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f]

I would suggest having one initial different at the very least, because you won’t know who mail is for when it’s addressed as A C [lastname]
So if you really want matching initials, either only match the first initial or the second initial, but not both

[name_f]Aerin[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Amber[/name_f] and [name_f]Alanis[/name_f] together, I think [name_f]Amber[/name_f] and [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] are also nice sister set.

[name_f]Amber[/name_f] [name_f]Chantal[/name_f] and…

[name_f]Alanis[/name_f] [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]
[name_f]Alanis[/name_f] [name_u]Courtney[/name_u]

[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] [name_u]Carmen[/name_u]

I would also suggest to go with a different initial. Amelias seem to be everywhere and [name_f]Alanis[/name_f] is stylistically different from [name_f]Amber[/name_f]. If you’re going with a theme (and it looks like you are since you want the names both to start with “A”), maybe change the theme to “they are both jewels” and if you like that option, maybe you’ll find yourself liking names like [name_f]Jade[/name_f], [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]? [name_m]Just[/name_m] a thought!

[name_f]Alana[/name_f] [name_u]Camryn[/name_u] is beautiful if you are sure you want to lock in to the matching initials theme.

I’m not a fan of exact matching initials… it can be very confusing. I like one PP suggestion of reversing the letters, so the sister has C.A. in order for them to have some type of connection to each other (if that’s even needed).

Good luck.

Congratulations on baby 2! Personally I agree with what some have said that [name_f]Amber[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] sound too close. [name_f]Alanis[/name_f] is pretty, the only time I’ve heard that name is with [name_f]Alanis[/name_f] Morisette so it doesn’t feel outdated to me, whereas here in the UK [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] has been really overused in the last 5-10 years.
