I have the vaguest inklings of a story idea, and I need a name for the POV character. Her half-brother is the legendary wielder of some sort of fancy magical blade that probably slays malevolent deities and/or spirits. Something like that. Basically, in an attempt to turn the Chosen One trope on its head, my character’s father is a diplomat in an unhappy marriage because of his job. On his travels to various kingdoms, he had flings with various women. At home he had two kids, Zacharias, who’s twenty when the story happens, and my unamed main character, who’s around fifteen. Years ago, rumor of the legendary Wielder of Fancy Unamed Magic Blade spread, and he discovered when his powers got super out of control and resulted in the death of his family. Main character’s dad realized this all-powerful nine year old was his kid and took him back to the capital city, where the family dynamics got increasingly worse. I think the Chosen One’s name is going to be Haldan, and I’m open to suggestions for him, but I really need something for my main character. Preferably upper class sounding, as her father is a wealthy diplomat, but nothing too traditional as the genre is definitely fantasy. The character herself is pretty withdrawn as a result of being overlooked (as kids, Zacharias vied for attention through misbehavior and Haldan was literally the savior of the world). She’s quiet, but quite analytical and observant, and can produce copious amounts of sarcasm when she lets her guard down.
