Tossing around a few names for baby girl, due [name_f]Christmas[/name_f] Day… we are hopeful and praying for a safe and healthy arrival despite recent speculation from doctors. We want her name to reflect the eternal perspective we are choosing to focus on, regardless.
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] (a nod to his late grandma),
[name_f]Elaina[/name_f] (a nod to mine),
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] (my interpretation of the meaning: faithfulness of [name_m]God[/name_m] being with us) or
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] (my favorite favorite name, but doesn’t seem right for this baby; my husband likes the name, but not committed which gives me hesitation)
Our 3 yr old daughter is named [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] [name_f]Eden[/name_f] (meaning hope from God’s garden), and older siblings in heaven: [name_f]Josie[/name_f] [name_m]Hart[/name_m] and [name_f]Teagan[/name_f] [name_m]Paul[/name_m]. Each name such a precious gift to us.
Congratulations and my best wishes for a healthy and safe delivery for your baby girl.
I love [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], it’s a beautiful combo and I think it connects to your meaning and fits so well with [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] [name_f]Eden[/name_f]. It’s also a great [name_f]Christmas[/name_f] baby name.
[name_f]Nadia[/name_f] is gorgeous! (as are [name_f]Josie[/name_f] and Teagan!)
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is lovely - I’d like to know how your meaning comes about?
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Elaina[/name_f] are lovely too
I’ll add in:
[name_f]Lois[/name_f] [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] (better than gold)
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f] [name_f]Viviana[/name_f] (light and life)
[name_f]Elaina[/name_f] [name_f]Constance[/name_f] (constant light)
[name_f]Celeste[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] (messages from the heavens)
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] (bright as the stars)
Gosh I feel like the birth announcement for Nadi@ Ed3n was only yesterday huge congratulations in relation to this baby girl and wishing you a safe, healthy and happy delivery of this sweet child.
I love [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] they are just such gorgeous names. [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is pretty, preppy name that feels joyous and would be a sweet honour option. I also love [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]! She’s strong, regal and elegant. I think [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] mirrors well with Nadi@ they have that strength sharing the same letters/sounds. I really like the idea of [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] as suggested by @cms1512
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is gorgeous. Your interpretation of the meaning is so perfect for your outlook on this baby. The noel sound also ties in her Christmas-season birthday! [name_f]Nadia[/name_f], [name_f]Josie[/name_f], [name_f]Teagan[/name_f], and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is such a sweet set. Also, this could potentially honor both grandmas though the strong -elle sound in [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], as it matches the beginning of both [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Elaina[/name_f].
I adore the names [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Elaina[/name_f], but to me, [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] seems to check all the boxes. Maybe coming up with some potential middles for each could help you figure out your preferences?
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is a beautiful name, but if it doesn’t feel right then it doesn’t feel right. What about a derivative, like [name_f]Adele[/name_f] or [name_f]Addie[/name_f] or [name_f]Ada[/name_f] or [name_f]Della[/name_f] or [name_f]Delia[/name_f], either in the first or middle spot?
Good luck choosing a name! I will be praying for a safe arrival for your beautiful daughter this [name_f]Christmas[/name_f]!
Thank you for the suggestions! Funny that you’d mention Clara, our goddaughter’s name, and E/Alora, is a dear friend, so we probably wouldn’t use those.
I do however, LOVE Rudolph the Reindeer’s girlfriend, Clarice, and have always found joy in putting Adelaide Clarice together. It’s so beautiful, but my husband isn’t fond of it. Thank you for validating my ultimate name crush without even knowing! ha
Thank you!! Ivy = faithfulness/fidelity, and although Noelle technically means “Christmas”, I love that Christmas is ultimately the celebration of Emmanuel “God with Us”. I did take some liberties there to combine it, but didn’t find it too far a stretch
If I’m honest, I was immensely surprised to find that you had added Elaina Constance to your suggestions! Part of the joy in this baby (and focusing there) is that we went through such a journey to have her. Infertility for nearly a decade, 2 losses, 1 living baby, and now this sweet tried-for, but surprise sibling – at the beginning of the year, I felt God assure me that I needed to step back and watch Him be “constant” in our lives this year. When I got the positive test, I knew she was part of that, and have played with the idea of finding a name with the message of “constance”… I like the meaning “constant light”
[name_m]Ah[/name_m], that makes sense! Thank you for sharing that! I like how the meaning is quite subtle and that the name holds its own along side it - I think it’s a lovely choice.
I’m sorry to hear it’s been such a tough journey for you but it’s good to hear you’ve been focussing on the joy too
@tori101 - I was hoping someone would still be around from back then and remember us! Yay <3 MY FEELINGS EXACTLY about [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] being a balanced sibset and couldn’t ever think of another pair that projected the “strong, regal, elegance” that you so beautifully stated. @dogs_books [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] seemed to sneak into my heart recently as perhaps a sleeker version of the unique [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. It shares the vowel-beginning, but before never seemed like a complete name, since it’s apparent I have a unique love of longer names… LOL. Paired with [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], though, I’ve had a different view of its elegance and beauty. We shall see! The more I talk about them, the more I love them both…
I had forgotten all about this thread or that I should come to close it up.
Ivy Noelle was indeed born to us with a heartbeat but not a breath. She didn’t make it to her Christmas due date but November 5th…. actually, had she stayed earthside, she woulda been 7 months old today.
The grief has been incredibly hard, of course, and yet, her name (meaning) kept our eyes and heart anchored in the truth. Thank you for joining us in the journey and this conversation. We are ever so grateful she touched our lives, no matter how brief.
A couple neat things we discovered through the process of naming her — 1.) we have held onto John 15:5 as her life verse. It talks about us abiding IN Him….. which is actually her first and middle initials combined. 2.) one of our friends serves in the military. He asked if we knew that we were naming our fourth child.. of course we did, what a silly question! Yet what he was getting at was that IV is the Roman numeral for 4. In fact, later he gifted us several of his 4th battalion patches, having one Ivy leaf sprawled out towards each corner of the patch.
On her 5th month in Heaven, a friend I had just made asked me if I had ever heard of the Kari Jobe song “The Garden”. What a very meaningful gift, especially paired with the origin story!
[name_m]Welcome[/name_m] back! [name_f][/name_f] I don’t know that we talked a ton years ago, but [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] [name_f]Eden[/name_f] has stuck in my head since you first considered it, and I’m so pleased to hear you got to use it! [name_f][/name_f] It’s still my absolute favorite [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] combo of all time. [name_f][/name_f] It’s so nice to see you back. [name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
I will definitely join your prayers for a protected, healthy, and safe babe to arrive in [name_f]December[/name_f] for you! [name_f][/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f]
I absolutely love [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] for you; she’s a perfect sister for [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and such a gorgeous name. [name_f][/name_f] I do understand your hesitation if it doesn’t feel right for this babe and your husband is not committed. [name_f][/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] feels so completely you, though! [name_f][/name_f] I think [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] or [name_f]Elaina[/name_f] would be beautiful middles and like that they would honor grandmas but also share a middle initial with [name_f]Nadia[/name_f]! [name_f][/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is beautiful and a lovely option with Nadia; it’s my second favorite option behind [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f]
Here’s a few ideas:
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] or [name_f]Liliosa[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Camellia[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] (knew the sweetest sisters with these names; it feels like a perfect pair for me!) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Tess[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] (or Julia) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] (“my [name_m]God[/name_m] is a vow” feels appropriate for her story) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Adele[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] (this reminds me so much of Proverbs 18:10 [name_f][/name_f]- “The name of the [name_m]Lord[/name_m] is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe” ) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] (maybe too matchy, but stylistically I think they’re great) [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Esther[/name_f] “Esti/Tess” [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Vera[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Leona[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Susanna[/name_f]
@ashthedreamer[name_f][/name_f] hey, thank you [name_f][/name_f]- I absolutely remember you! this thread was started one year ago… and I came to follow up last night to say that we had named our daughter, [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] (reasons above). She was as beautiful as her name and passed 15 mins after she was born.
