Alright. I’m dire need for a first name for my male lead. His middle name is either going to be Everet or Theodore, and his last name is Crane. I had settled on the first name Edmund, but has since disliked it for the Ed sound. The guy is 28, has an important government job, and I want him to have a classy name that’s strong and romantic. Think Silas, Sebastian, and and Victor!

I’m mostly brainstorming, I may very well use the names that I have listed. Thank you for the suggestions. I’m really liking [name_m]Silas[/name_m] [name_u]Everett[/name_u] [name_m]Crane[/name_m] right now, but I’m afraid that [name_m]Silas[/name_m] is too old. Does anyone feels that [name_m]Silas[/name_m] is too old man, or is it just me?
I’m not keen on [name_u]Everett[/name_u] as a first name.
I’m also going to throw the middle name Monroe in here, because I think Victor Monroe Crane sounds pretty great together as well.
Also, what do you guys think of the name Holden? I love it because it has the word hold in it, which makes it sound safe and secure to me. I never much cared for Catcher and thr Rye, but I’m afraid that associate will over-shadow my character. I watched a soap opera that had a character named Holden in it, so maybe this is doable?

I personally would not consider [name_m]Holden[/name_m] if you are on the lookout for something classical as it has been on the rise during the last 20 years (currently around rank 290 in the US). It has more of a modern touch to me.

I never read anything with a [name_m]Silas[/name_m] Marner in it, so if I don’t know what that is than I’m going to assume that a lot of other people don’s as well… afterall it’s not like [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] from Gone with the Wind or [name_m]Holden[/name_m] from Catcher and the [name_m]Rye[/name_m]. Speaking of [name_m]Holden[/name_m], I’ve decided to scrap that name as a guilty pleasure, it’s just too associated with Catcher and the [name_m]Rye[/name_m].
I do like names that are a little off of the beaten path, so [name_m]Vincent[/name_m], [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m], and [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] do sound really good to me. I actually feel that [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] is coming up to tie with [name_m]Silas[/name_m].
I think [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] could work.
You mentioned you scrapped [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] because of the “[name_m]Ed[/name_m]” part… Are you looking for a name with an obvious nickname? If so, [name_m]Cy[/name_m]/[name_u]Si[/name_u] is a great nickname.
You also mentioned [name_m]Silas[/name_m] and the old man connotation. I do not feel it is an old mans name but that is because there have been a few babies born in my immediate circle with that name this year. I think it might be the Duck Dynasty connection?
