My husband and I are having a nightmare of a time coming up with a boys name for our baby due in early [name_u]June[/name_u]. I’m 11 weeks And a few days now and will be finding out gender in a couple of months, and we really want a name picked out to make things more real for our almost two year old.
Our sons name is [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] “[name_u]Jem[/name_u]”. We both like [name_u]Jameson[/name_u] because it is familiar but not popular, has a somewhat classic feel with [name_u]James[/name_u], but the modern/trendy ‘son’ ending. It feels masculine (with the whiskey association lol), and could fit anyone- an accountant, a teacher, a writer, a surfer. [name_u]Michael[/name_u] was an easy choice, after my dad who passed away.
Our pick for a girl is [name_f]Cora[/name_f]. We have just both always loved the name, for no particular reason. She will either be [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] (family name on both sides) or [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] (birth month and love the vintage feel).
Names on our list now or that have been on our list are-
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]
[name_u]Noah[/name_u]
[name_u]Finley[/name_u]
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m]
[name_m]Liam[/name_m]
[name_m]Levi[/name_m]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u]
[name_m]Jack[/name_m]
[name_m]Callen[/name_m]
I’m concerned about the popularity (as in, I’ve heard the names on a million kids in my area) of [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], [name_u]Noah[/name_u], [name_m]Liam[/name_m], [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_u]Finley[/name_u] (particularly with nickname [name_u]Finn[/name_u]). I just feel like I hear them every other day. [name_m]Levi[/name_m] seems plain. [name_m]Callen[/name_m] seems too trendy. [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] has no nicknames and it’s my husbands least favorite (he says its way too Bible-y). Personally I’d use [name_u]Rory[/name_u] in a heartbeat but DH only likes it as a girls name.
I’m sure we could pick a name off the list, but none of them feel right. I like vintage-y names but with a modern/slightly trendy feel. Something strong and not over used, that could fit any personality. I tend to lean more towards Irish names, classics, and vintage ([name_m]Collin[/name_m], [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_u]Max[/name_u], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]) and DH likes more ‘out there’, unique names, and some [name_m]Roman[/name_m] stuff oddly ([name_m]Maverick[/name_m], [name_m]Merrick[/name_m], [name_m]Callen[/name_m], [name_m]Tiberius[/name_m], [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m], [name_f]Octavia[/name_f]'s, [name_m]Tobias[/name_m])
I really feel like we have seen every name out there. Am I overthinking this?
