My second daughter is due at the end of the month and hubby and I are really struggling. I am Greek and he is Russian, so we want to stay with either a Greek or Russian name. Our eldest daughter is [name_f]Tatiana[/name_f].
Some of our ideas:
[name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] (or maybe [name_f]Ariadna[/name_f], instead?)
[name_f]Karina[/name_f]
[name_f]Liliya[/name_f]
[name_f]Evgenia[/name_f]
[name_f]Arina[/name_f]
Taisia (my name is [name_f]Thalia[/name_f] so this would continue the ‘T’ names lol!)
Alesya
[name_m]Just[/name_m] curious, how do you pronounce [name_f]Tatiana[/name_f]'s middle name (in your signature)?
From your list, my favourite is [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]. some suggestions:
[name_f]Natalya[/name_f]
[name_f]Irina[/name_f]
[name_f]Hestia[/name_f]
[name_f]Athena[/name_f]
[name_f]Kallista[/name_f]
I like Alesya! I also like the suggestion [name_f]Natalya[/name_f] or [name_f]Natalia[/name_f]. It can be so difficult to know what is in style in a different culture/language. Maybe [name_f]Ksenia[/name_f] or [name_f]Katia[/name_f]?
I love [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]/[name_f]Ariadna[/name_f] with [name_f]Tatiana[/name_f]! [name_f]Liliya[/name_f] and [name_f]Evgenia[/name_f] are beautiful too.
Some other suggestions to go with [name_f]Tatiana[/name_f]:
[name_f]Svetlana[/name_f]
[name_f]Natalia[/name_f]/[name_f]Natalya[/name_f] - I second this one
[name_f]Katya[/name_f]/[name_f]Ekaterina[/name_f]/[name_f]Aikaterine[/name_f]
[name_f]Wanda[/name_f]
[name_f]Iolanta[/name_f]
Magdalina/[name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]
[name_f]Tamara[/name_f]
[name_f]Syuzanna[/name_f]/Sousanna/[name_f]Susanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Zinaida[/name_f]/[name_f]Zinovia[/name_f]
[name_f]Aleksandra[/name_f]/[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Demetria[/name_f]
[name_f]Yelena[/name_f]/[name_f]Helena[/name_f]/[name_f]Helene[/name_f]/[name_f]Elena[/name_f]
Dinara
[name_f]Adelaida[/name_f]
[name_f]Evelina[/name_f]
[name_f]Kira[/name_f]
[name_f]Yasmina[/name_f]
My immediate response would be [name_f]Maria[/name_f]/[name_f]Marie[/name_f], but also [name_f]Katya[/name_f] and [name_f]Sofia[/name_f]. From your list I love [name_f]Liliya[/name_f] (the spelling is really interesting too, I’ve only ever seen it written as [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] before), and [name_f]Karina[/name_f] is beautiful too.
What about [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Angelina[/name_f], [name_f]Helena[/name_f]/[name_f]Elena[/name_f], [name_f]Marianna[/name_f], [name_f]Polina[/name_f]?
I love [name_f]Evgenia[/name_f]!!! If I had any cultural basis to use it as a name for a daughter I would. But my husband is of mexican descent and I am american of no particular origin. [name_f]Evgenia[/name_f] is gorgeous and perfect with [name_f]Tatiana[/name_f]. They are both classics.
Oh man, I’m so bad at writing out pronunciations but I’ll try. It’s pronounced EEL (like sick)-E-NEESH-NA. It’s actually a patronymic, which are used in [name_f]Russia[/name_f] in place of regular middle names and comes from the father’s name. My husband’s first name is [name_m]Ilya[/name_m] so my daughter’s patronymic is Ilyinichna : )
[name_f]Kassiani[/name_f] (pronounced Kah-SEE-uh-nee) is a derivative of [name_f]Kassia[/name_f], and is one of my faves and comes from the word for cinnamon. Also an early saint who wrote beautiful hymns still sung today. I also love [name_f]Larissa[/name_f] from pp, but I’m a bit biased since it’s the name of my DD. I think either would be lovely with [name_f]Tatiana[/name_f].
For me, [name_f]Tatiana[/name_f] is a four-syllable strong but feminine name that needs a similar name to coordinate. From your list, [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] is my favorite, followed by [name_f]Evgenia[/name_f].
Does [name_f]Tatiana[/name_f] go by a nickname? If so, that might direct you toward a name that has a nn that goes well w/[name_f]Tatiana[/name_f]'s nn. Good luck!
