Hey all, I’m new here! We have our third and final son due in 2 months, and we are still swimming in circles in regards to names. I would appreciate any and all opinions or advice!
It’s really important to me that the name fits in with our other son’s names. It has always bothered me that they don’t really have the same style, and I’m hoping that the third name can balance out the family.
DS: Moses
DS: August
DS: ???
They do have middle names but those are easy for us.
Names we’re considering:
Thomas (too common/boring?)
Rhys
Wren
Soren (husband’s favorite)
Ronan
Rory
Evander (our name name ends in -er though)
We lean towards Victorian, old-timey, or Celtic names and would like to stay out of the top 100. (August is #109 and we still run into it everywhere. )
Do any of these fit in well with brothers? Any other suggestions? Maybe your grandpa’s name? Thanks in advance!!
I do agree that [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is a bit too common and doesn’t really fit the vibe of your other boys. Of the list, I think [name_u]Rhys[/name_u], [name_m]Soren[/name_m], and [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] are probably what I would consider the closest to what you’re looking for. However, all 3 of those are pretty on-trend and will likely only increase in the coming years (at least in the US).
[name_f]My[/name_f] top choice for you would probably be [name_m]Innes[/name_m]. It incorporates an “S” as your other boys’ names do and is also pretty unpopular, having never ranked in the top 1000 in the US and is also of Scottish origin.
Here are a few more that fit the vibe that are a bit less common:
[name_u]Welcome[/name_u] to Nameberry! I love the names of your children. [name_m]Soren[/name_m] and [name_m]Evander[/name_m] are my favorites from your current list. [name_m]Feel[/name_m] established, but slightly unexpected like your boys.
Thank you! I’m sure my husband won’t like [name_m]Innes[/name_m], but it made me think of [name_u]Ennis[/name_u] which I think he might like. I’m also adding [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] and [name_m]Cedric[/name_m] to the list (Dougald is almost my husband’s name lol).
“established, but unexpected” is a great way to sum up what I’m looking for. Thank you so much for your list! I like most of them but am stewing over it to figure out which ones I LOVE. This feels so much harder knowing it’s the last baby I’ll name.
Thank you so much! I hadn’t really considered [name_m]Louis[/name_m] because I saw it as too common, but it really isn’t, is it? It might be a good fit. I also like [name_m]Solomon[/name_m]. [name_m]Casper[/name_m] is another one I like but unfortunately sounds bad with our last name. Husband has vetoed [name_u]Levi[/name_u] due to not one but two problem students at the school where he works. But I’ll run the others by him!
Ooh, I really like these. [name_u]Gideon[/name_u] has been a favorite of mine for a long time, however it’s the band of one of my son’s best friends now so I’m not sure I dare. i really like [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] though and have put it at the top of the list! [name_u]Dorian[/name_u] might be a top contender too. Thank you!
Honestly I feel that there is too much focus on sibling set cohesion I should just embrace your favourite name.
[name_m]Soren[/name_m] is gorgeous with a handsome pan European feel. I think he sounds unexpected with your boys but very handsome and outdoorsy. I think [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] is handsome and sounds strong with your boys has the right distinctive sound. I love seeing [name_u]Wren[/name_u] for a boy he’s so soft, outdoorsy, sweet and cosy. I think [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is in keeping with A.ugust but feels a little different to M0ses but I do love it. Finally I actually think [name_m]Evander[/name_m] is perfection depending on the surname he has the right literacy feel of [name_u]August[/name_u] whilst feeling unexpected and romantic like M0ses.
Looking at your ideas I love [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] however I think the name doesn’t have the right feel for your boys. I think [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] + [name_u]Rory[/name_u] have a very different feel to your boys I think M0ses + A.ugust feel a little more gentlemanly and distinctive.
You’ve had lots of lovely suggestions so count any repeats as me being in agreement with the berries
From your list, I think [name_u]Rhys[/name_u], [name_m]Soren[/name_m] and [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] from your list fit well. We are in the same dilemma! We have two boys whose names are totally different styles and it is so hard to find a third to fit (we are waiting to find out the gender, so don’t know if it is a boy yet).
Some other suggestions…
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_m]Otto[/name_m]
[name_m]Byron[/name_m]
[name_m]Calvin[/name_m]
[name_m]Conrad[/name_m]
[name_m]Edwin[/name_m]
[name_u]Gideon[/name_u]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u]
[name_m]Louis[/name_m]
[name_m]Ruben[/name_m]
[name_m]Simon[/name_m]
[name_m]Vincent[/name_m]
[name_u]Archer[/name_u]
[name_m]Desmond[/name_m]
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Orson[/name_m]
[name_u]Roscoe[/name_u]
[name_u]Callum[/name_u]
[name_m]Irving[/name_m] (my grandpa’s name )
These last few are within the top 100, but I think they fit with your boys’ names well:
[name_m]Roman[/name_m]
[name_m]Silas[/name_m]
[name_u]Bennett[/name_u]
[name_u]Everett[/name_u]
From your list I like [name_u]Wren[/name_u]! [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is also a great name, maybe you could use [name_m]Thompson[/name_m] as a less common choice?
[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was [name_m]Eamon[/name_m].
From your list I really like [name_m]Soren[/name_m], [name_m]Ronan[/name_m], and [name_u]Rory[/name_u]. I like [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] in theory but saying [name_u]Moses[/name_u], [name_u]August[/name_u], and [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] it gets a little sss heavy for me. Not a real problem but something I noticed
Suggestions (take repeats as agreements)
