I just saw Frozen (not sure what all the hype was about) and the town they live in is called Arendelle. I think it’s BEAUTIFUL, more for a girl I’d say. I don’t think I’d be brave enough to use it as a first, but maybe a middle? What do you guys think of it?
I think Arendelle is actually their country, not their town. But I agree that it’s gorgeous. To me it sounds almost like a last name. The [name_m]Aren[/name_m]- part feels more masculine while the -elle ending is obviously a bit more feminine. I could see it as a mn for either gender, especially if the kid’s parents were really into Disney.
From the disney wiki: Arendelle | Disney Wiki | Fandom
“The name ‘Arendelle’ is based on the Norwegian town of Arendal, located southwest of the Norwegian capital, [name_m]Oslo[/name_m].”
I’m not a big place name person, in general, so I wouldn’t do it. But, it definitely matches the current -elle style of names for girls.
I’ve liked [name_u]Dell[/name_u] for a long time and think Arendelle is kind of pretty. I don’t think I’d use it as a first name anytime soon, but I don’t think it’s a bad idea at all!
It’s definitely pretty, but I don’t think I would use it on a person. Disney uses such interesting names for their worlds/towns. [name_f]Remember[/name_f] Andalasia from Enchanted?
I definitely see it as feminine. And it’s beautiful!
Side note: I sort of agree with you about the hype. I could’ve written that script better. But I always think that!
Arendelle is very pretty, but like the other posters I agree that it’s not really usable. You could possibly get away with it for a middle name though.
Arendelle is gorgeous.
Arendelle is pretty, but if you want a boy name, there is [name_m]Kristoff[/name_m], [name_u]Kai[/name_u], [name_m]Hans[/name_m], [name_m]Olaf[/name_m], and Oaken. There’s also [name_f]Gerda[/name_f] as another one of the characters. The names [name_f]Gerda[/name_f] and [name_u]Kai[/name_u] are also featured in the original story by [name_m]Hans[/name_m] [name_m]Christian[/name_m] [name_m]Anderson[/name_m] titled the [name_f]Snow[/name_f] [name_f]Queen[/name_f].
Despite what other posters have said, I do think Arendelle is totally usable as a middle name, maybe even a first. nn [name_f]Elle[/name_f] or [name_u]Ara[/name_u] make it totally approachable.
I would be more likely to use [name_m]Aren[/name_m] by itself on a girl than Arendelle, as I’m not really one for -elle names.
