I am literally days away from my due date and my husband and I cannot agree on a name.
I like:
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
He likes them but is worried about them being to popular. However we have a daughter name [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] who was born in 2001, her name was pretty popular at the time. AND he was the one to pick the name out.
He likes:
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Millicent[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]
I can honestly say that the thought of naming my child those names makes me want to cry.
We need help bad! We cannot agree on a name and I think she is going to be born and we are just going to settle on a name neither of us really like.
I love [name_f]Millicent[/name_f]!
Why not try [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] [name_f]Ava[/name_f] ? With the nickname [name_f]Millie[/name_f]?
[name_f]My[/name_f] style is more similar to yours, but maybe try:
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u]/[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f]/[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_f]Lila[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] is a nickname for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] just so happens to mean “pearl.” It also has a similar sound to [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and isn’t as popular. I wonder if you would like [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]? Or perhaps [name_f]Margo/name_f?
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]
[name_f]Margo[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Margo[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Margo[/name_f] [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]
I also like that [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and [name_f]Margo[/name_f] have so many nickname options… [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], [name_f]Mara[/name_f], [name_f]Molly[/name_f], [name_f]Polly[/name_f]…
His names are fitting with the old lady trend which I don’t think go with your older daughters name.
Maybe…
[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilith[/name_f]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
I like [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] best of the names you mentioned.
Maybe you’d both like…
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] - I love this with [name_f]Kayla[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Scarlet[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] or [name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] would be a lovely compromise name, or perhaps [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f].
Good luck finding something you [name_m]BOTH[/name_m] love, and congratulations!
You guys might be closer than you think…
You like:
[name_f]Ava[/name_f] - [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_u]Aja[/name_u], [name_f]Amy[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] (nicknamed [name_f]Nell[/name_f]/ [name_u]Nelly[/name_u]?)
Would he be happy using [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] with a nickname more in line with his style? He may like [name_f]Lottie[/name_f].
He likes:
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] - [name_u]Nelly[/name_u], [name_f]Paloma[/name_f]
[name_f]Millicent[/name_f] - [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Marjory[/name_f], [name_f]Milly[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucinda[/name_f] - [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] - [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]
To combine your taste and your husband’s name choices, here are combinations that you both might like:
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Holly[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
Thanks for the name suggestions.
I will run them by him. The sad thing is he loved [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] and [name_f]Ava[/name_f] until he saw it in the top 25. He also like [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. Now I think he is just wantingbsomething uncommon for the sake of being uncommon.
I can say that I have a great dislike for his choices. I want to compromise but I just so do not like his name choices, so far
I respect that he likes them but not just for the sake of having an usual name.
To each their own.
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] I hope you are getting closer to a compromise! It can be stressful when we can’t agree with our spouses. I realize that tastes can change over time. Maybe the reason your husband does not want a popular name now is that he’s seen the negative side of that with your firstborn. Have you tried to draw him out on this? Maybe you could take the opportunity to point out the positives of having a common or popular name (people know how to spell and pronounce it, it can project an image of youthfulness and timelessness, etc.)
[name_f]Kayla[/name_f] reminds me of:

I love [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]! What about:
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]-rather than [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Millie[/name_f] or [name_f]Mia[/name_f]? Rather than [name_f]Millicent[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], or [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] would all be lovely and pair up well with big sis [name_f]Kayla[/name_f].
Good luck!!
With Kayla, maybe Aviana? You could use Ava as a nickname and it is much less common.
Or maybe something similar to Isabel, but less popular, like Adele, Arabel, Arabella or Bellamy? With Kayla, I also like Jessamy and Jessamyn.
Here are some other ideas… Abelia, Ada, Adalia, Alisa, Amalia, Amira, Aria, Athalia, Aviva, Delilah, Eden, Hannah, Jessie, Laurel, Rachel, Riva, Sapphire, Sofia, Sara, Zara, Zoe
Good luck! Would love to hear what you decide on X
