I’m looking for a sweet, feminine name for a female character heavily associated with deer. To make a long story short, all of my characters will be aligned with some animal that I draw inspiration from for their personality/appearance/etc…
For example, I have a male character who represents dragons, so he tends to be willful, dominant, and ambitious. His name is [name_u]Blaise[/name_u], which I selected because of its association to fire via the similar sounding “blaze”, but also because it’s a sleek, sophisticated, strong sounding name.
The lady I have in mind encompasses the traits of a doe pretty well; she’s nurturing, gentle, shy and soft-spoken. Names I’ve considered for her are [name_f]Selene[/name_f] (moon association; gentle, mystical), [name_f]Alma[/name_f] (meaning “nurturing, soul”), and [name_f]Primavera[/name_f] (spring association, but she would mostly go by [name_f]Prima[/name_f]).
I’m looking for thoughts and opinions on my considerations as well as suggestions! Thank you, berries!
What about [name_f]Jane[/name_f]? The deer association would be what an unidentified woman is called (whether in a coma or just dead…) a [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Doe[/name_f]. It’s also just a really sweet name that I think works well! My other thought is [name_f]Fawn[/name_f], but that seems a little obvious.
[name_f]Selene[/name_f] is pretty, but I almost think it’s much more with the moon than with a deer. I really like [name_f]Alma[/name_f], and it’s the one I like the most of your options. [name_f]Primavera[/name_f] seems a little too outspoken for what you’ve described, it seems too diva-like or just…too much? Idk, that one’s my least favorite.
I [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Selene[/name_f], the association with the moon reminds me of [name_u]Artemis[/name_u], the goddess of the hunt in Greek mythology. A name kind of like [name_f]Selene[/name_f] is [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] or [name_f]Celesta[/name_f].
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] is a cool suggestion too! Here are some other ideas:
[name_f]May[/name_f]
[name_f]Fawn[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_u]Artemis[/name_u]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Daliah[/name_f]
[name_f]Thalia[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f]
For the last person, I love your suggestions, but I want to make a small note. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is the name of the mother of [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m], and there’s a big connection with her and a doe. I think if that was used, some people would think that the writer copied even when he/she really didn’t
I like the suggested names [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], and [name_f]Willow[/name_f] above all else.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] I helped and have a great day!
[name_u]Darby[/name_u]-Means deer town, but might be too masculine.
[name_f]Dorcas[/name_f]/[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]-Both mean gazelle,so they´re a bit of a cheat,but I think they´re cute.
Zibiah-Means (roe)deer. It has a spunky Z beginning while still being soft and feminine.
[name_m]Isi[/name_m]-Choctaw unisexual name meaning deer. It´s very sweet, but maybe too sweet.
I gave meaning based suggestions, which hopefully are in the vein of what you´re looking for.
[name_f]Fawn[/name_f] could work, as well as [name_f]Jane[/name_f], like [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Doe[/name_f]. I also like [name_u]Darby[/name_u], and [name_f]Selene[/name_f] is cool, though it does sound more like the moon.
My first thought was [name_f]Fawn[/name_f], but that has been suggested a lot. I also like [name_f]Fauna[/name_f] or maybe [name_f]Dawn[/name_f]. The name Honovi means strong deer. I’m not sure what the correct pronunciation is, but I use on-no-vee similar to honor.
