My sweet dog and angel princess baby, Poppy, passed away at 14 two weeks ago, and I have been so heartbroken and devastated. We grew up together, and I have had her since she was a puppy and I was a little girl, so it is a deep, deep loss. I have been really lonely and depressed, and I hate how quiet the house is living alone without a pet. I was spending time with a close friend of mine who rescues local dogs, and I really bonded with one of the puppies a mama dog had that he found and rescued. He told me after I met him that he was looking to rehome him because they already have several dogs and cats they rescued. I didn’t think I was ready to adopt another pet, but I am in need of another companion and am in desperate need for another furry child / best friend. The dog I am adopting is named Bodhi, and he is a very sweet, playful, friendly, and adorable lab mix with a reddish/brown coat. He kind of looks like some sort of hound dog so I wonder if he is a lab/hound mix. He is 6 months old, already 50 pounds, and was the largest puppy in his litter so he is going to be a very big doggo.

I like the name Bodhi, but I don’t love it and I’m not 100% on keeping it. It does suit him very well though. I don’t love masculine names so it is a lot harder for me to come up with boy names than girl names, and I gravitate towards softer sounding names and gender neutral names for boys. These are some other names for him I’ve thought of for him that I like. I can’t decide which one I like the best or what suits his personality the best, so I wanted to hear some opinions about these name choices, and if you can come up with any cute nickname suggestions or similar name suggestions!! I love unique names and nature names, and prefer names that have a spunky charm or vintage twist. I also love nicknames, and a cute goofy nickname will totally win me over! :heart_eyes:

I love the name [name_m]Copper[/name_m] for a dog (as in the metal copper)! It’s the name of the dog in [name_m]Fox[/name_m] and the Hound, which I think adds to its cuteness :slight_smile: It might work since you said he is reddish brown

I am so sorry for your loss and hoping this new pup is just what you need. My favourites on your list are Noodle, Winston/Winnie, Mocha, and Nugget. I also really like the suggestions of Copper, Gus, and Bowie. Also Chappell or Chaplin with the nickname Chappy.

Thankyou so much everyone!! After spending time with [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] and bonding with him more, I decided to keep his name [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] because I feel like it perfectly suits him and his spirit. He’s very peaceful and calm but also playful, and he has brought me so much love and peace since I adopted him over the summer. I love him so much and have fallen in love with his name almost as much as I have fallen in love with him. :heart:
