alright i’m writing a book and i need a name meaning hate or anger but i’m looking for a proper name and not something that sounds silly
Atol was the first thing to come to mind
This challenge is harder than I thought. So far all I’ve come up with is [name_m]Doyle[/name_m] - Irish name translates to “dark stranger”.
One of the meanings of [name_m]Odin[/name_m] is rage
[name_m]Odysseus[/name_m] means to hate
This is really hard to find maybe you should search for names that sounds harsh to ears?
[name_u]Ira[/name_u] is Latin for “anger.”
After not finding much through regular search methods I decided to look through Greek mythology. Some of these I’m sure are a bit out there… But here is what I found:
[name_m]Ares[/name_m]: god of war
Menoetius: titan of anger and rash action
Styx: titan of the underworld river and personification of hatred
[name_f]Lyssa[/name_f]: Greek spirit of rage, fury, and rabies in animals
Alastor: Greek spirit of blood feuds and vengence
I was thinking Alastor might work for you since it is close enough to [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] that it would be familiar. Good luck.
You could always name a character something like Malice. Depends how implausible as a random given name you want it to be.
Or after any of the deities of war/death. Or Marcellus, follower of Mars.
Or a name with a meaning relating to warrior or battle, though I don’t necessarily associate those as hateful. Harvey, for example, is a name I’d use IRL.
What about one of those “tough” GI Joe type names like Blaze/Cannon/Storm
