I’ve always seen the meaning as “bearer of good news” - where did you get yours from?
I can see how the meaning could be interpreted as “good messenger”, but where did you get God from?
I was checking several websites for accuracy & a few said that.
it seems people have a desire to over-religify it, but its composition is the greek ευ- prefix (latinised as eu or ev), which means good, or just generally indicates a positive (as in eulalia), combined with either αγγελος (latinised as angelos), which means messenger, or αγγελμα (latinised as angelma), which means message or news. thus, it can be interpreted to mean “messenger of good news” or “good news”. I see where “good messenger” could come from, but that connotationally leans more towards agathos than eu. any mention of god is later addition!
If this name is pronounced ee-VAN-je-leen instead of a-VAN-je-leen, like beginning of [name_f]Ava[/name_f], this name is forever ruined, and so is my day.
I really like this name! [name_f]Evangelyn[/name_f] might be a variant too. [name_f]My[/name_f] top combos with it are [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f].
The [name_f]Princess[/name_f] and the Frog made me love [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
You could also pronounce it with a -lyn or -line ending!
I’ve always loved this name. It has such a bright, sunny vibe. Friends of ours just used it for their little girl that arrived on [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f].
