Because I want to remember that today, my oldest girl (she’s 11) told me that she has a crush—on a girl named [name_f]Lily[/name_f].

“Kind of a riddle. It’s true that I haven’t had a crush on a boy since kindergarten. It’s also true that I have a crush right now. How is this possible?”

Oh angel girl!!!

I’m just really honored that she felt she could let me know; I thought she’s dang cool before, but letting her vulnerable side show has never been easy or natural all the time for her. She’s an amazing kid, and I’m lucky to even know her. And I get to love her!

Oh, and: her formerly staunch “I’ll never get married” became tonight “I know I don’t want to get married… to a boy at least.”
