[name_f]My[/name_f] sister is [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] nicknamed [name_f]Becca[/name_f]
Our sister in law is [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] nicknamed [name_f]Becky[/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] sister [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] has a sister in law named [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]
[name_f]My[/name_f] brother married a girl named [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], and my sister [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] has another sister in law named [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] dad had a dog named [name_m]Jake[/name_m] and then later named his son [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] (Jake)
Not to speak for kitkat, but I think it’s because they’re like two types of intermediary walkways (see [name_u]Allie[/name_u] = Alley and [name_m]Hall[/name_m] = Hallway!!)
Grew up with a lady named [name_u]Shirley[/name_u] [name_m]Birley[/name_m] (surname spelled differently, but it was pronounced as an exact rhyme)
I have friends who named their sons, [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and [name_m]Russell[/name_m]- it was unintentional on their part but we’re from Seattle where [name_m]Russell[/name_m] [name_u]Wilson[/name_u] was our NFL QB for several years, so all of us friends remarked that they were naming their boys after famous (surname) Wilsons.
A friend of mine is named [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] (but it is pronounced Gabrielle) and she married a [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] and took his surname so they have the exact same name ^^
I knew an older lady who was named [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], and her when she married she took her husbands last name ‘bottoms’ so she spent a good 60 years as ‘Rosie Bottoms’. I also had a teacher named ‘Kinda Garden’, again a married name.
I also know of two married couples who had the same surname. One being something common like ‘Miller’ the other couple though had a very unique surname and admittedly the wives maiden name was spelled slightly different but they were pronounced exactly the same.
The last one I can think of is a street near where I grew up had four families that lived down it, the [name_m]Black[/name_m] family, the [name_u]Grey[/name_u] Family, the Whites, and the Browns
A couple more I thought of because of the recent reply!
A woman named [name_f]Linda[/name_f] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] who married someone with the same last name, so her name stayed [name_f]Linda[/name_f] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] by default haha.
A woman born with the last name [name_u]Anderson[/name_u] (with an o) who married someone with the last name [name_u]Andersen[/name_u] (with an e) and took his last name. I feel like it would be hard to remember to spell it the new way when all of the letters are the same until the very end haha! Also, it would be confusing for their kids to have the [name_u]Anderson[/name_u] side of the family and the [name_u]Andersen[/name_u] side
When I was growing up I knew a [name_f]Martina[/name_f] (it’s a common name in the [name_u]Irish[/name_u] community) who married a man with the surname [name_m]Martin[/name_m] and was thereafter known as [name_f]Martina[/name_f] [name_m]Martin[/name_m].
[name_f]My[/name_f] grandma was named [name_f]Dora[/name_f]. Several years after she passed away, my grandpa remarried, and that woman’s name was [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]!
I also have an aunt and uncle (married to each other) named [name_u]Robin[/name_u] & [name_u]Robert[/name_u]. They both had the initials RC before marriage, so they would say “me and my RC,” which was a slogan or jingle or something for the old RC cola company
[name_f]My[/name_f] dad works with someone name [name_u]Kay[/name_u], and her husband’s name is [name_u]Tay[/name_u] (both full names). Next thing I know I’m gonna find out their kids are named [name_u]Jay[/name_u] and [name_f]May[/name_f] lol.
That reminds me, I know a [name_u]Nick[/name_u] [name_m]Nichols[/name_m] and in high school, a friend of mine, [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] dated a [name_u]Kaylan[/name_u]
I remembered another one. I’ve met a girl named [name_f]Luna[/name_f] Leeflang! In the [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] translation of [name_u]Harry[/name_u] [name_m]Potter[/name_m], [name_f]Luna[/name_f] Lovegood is named Loena Leeflang (Loena is a [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] spelling of Luna).
[name_f]My[/name_f] nan was [name_f]Molly[/name_f] and named her youngest daughter [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. I don’t think it occurred to her that [name_f]Molly[/name_f] is a diminutive of [name_f]Mary[/name_f].
That’s wilddddd!! [name_f]My[/name_f] first thought when reading [name_f]Luna[/name_f] Leeflang was that it sounded like a [name_u]Harry[/name_u] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] name haha, so that’s crazy that it is very related to [name_u]Harry[/name_u] [name_m]Potter[/name_m]!
