Name Replacement for Anastasia

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! You might have seen my posts around NB that I am thinking of changing my name (at the moment I’m leaning more towards changing it). Anyway, I found a name that I think is a perfect name for me, but I can’t use it. As you probably gathered from the title of this thread, the name is [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]. I can’t use it for various reasons and I don’t really want to list any of them on here, just trust me I really, really, really can’t use it. I’m looking for a name that I love just as much and is quite similar to [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ana[/name_f] (I’m pronouncing it [name_f]ANN[/name_f]-uh-stay-szhuh [not sure how to phonetically write out the last syllable]). So far, the two I’ve come closest to loving as much that I find quite similar are [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] nn [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] nn [name_f]Sera[/name_f]. I like that they’re all “frilly” names, but have more down to earth nicknames. I think [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] is “frillier” than the other two, though. Anastasia, though, I feel like has a small kind of down-to-earth quality about it in whole. It also sounds less ‘new’ than Seraphina. More timeless. I would primarily go by the nickname, but I want a full name (I don’t know why, I know it doesn’t make sense to not just name myself the nn, I just don’t want that). So what would you name a sister of Anastasia or what name would be a good replacement, do you think? Any suggestions would be helpful! Thank you for your help!

[name_f]Annmarie[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Eve[/name_f] or [name_f]Evie[/name_f]
[name_u]Meredith[/name_u] nn [name_f]Merry[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]
[name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] nn [name_f]Jessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Adrianna[/name_f] nn [name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_f]Antonia[/name_f]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u]/[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Elspeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Emme[/name_f]

I can relate with wanting a long, full name, not a shorter “nickname” name. I feel the same:).

@columbiacharm Thank you for your reply! From your suggestions I really like [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]/[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], & [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f]. I’m glad you get it! When I was typing I realised how much that doesn’t seem to make any sense, haha. Thank you, again

[name_f]Isadora[/name_f]
[name_f]Luella[/name_f]
[name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Azalea[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Francesca[/name_f] (love nn Ches)

Some of these might be a stretch, but…

[name_f]Anatolia[/name_f]
[name_f]Analisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Anessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Alessandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Katerina[/name_f]
[name_f]Natalia[/name_f]
[name_f]Nicoletta[/name_f]
[name_f]Evelina[/name_f]
[name_f]Valencia[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Tatiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Cosima[/name_f]
[name_f]Serena[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalinde[/name_f]
[name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]
[name_f]Valentina[/name_f]
[name_f]Melody[/name_f]
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f]

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like Seri as a nickname for [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]?

[name_f]Eustacia[/name_f]
[name_f]Annika[/name_f]
[name_f]Anais[/name_f]
[name_f]Sia[/name_f]
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u]
[name_u]Asa[/name_u]
[name_f]Tansy[/name_f]
[name_f]Cassia[/name_f]

@stellarevolution Thank you for your reply! From your suggestions I like [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], & [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Theodora[/name_f], but I’m hoping I get to use [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] for a future DS of mine. [name_f]Luella[/name_f] has actually been growing on me lately. Thank you, again

@sansavesper Thank you for your reply! From your suggestions I like [name_f]Analisa[/name_f], [name_f]Evelina[/name_f], [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f], [name_f]Tatiana[/name_f], & [name_f]Valentina[/name_f]. [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] is one of the names I thought would be similar to [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f], but I feel like it has more of a Victorian, Regency, Edwardian, Georgian (you get the idea), feel than [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]. It’s still on my list, though! Thank you, again

@mill1020 Thank you for your reply! I prefer more established names as nicknames to longer ones, so I prefer [name_f]Sera[/name_f] as a nn to [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]. It’s not the traditional spelling (clearly), but other than one or two letters it is the same name and it sounds the same. Thank you, again

@18_25 Thank you for your reply! From your suggestions I like [name_f]Anais[/name_f], [name_f]Annika[/name_f], & [name_u]Sasha[/name_u]. I also like [name_u]Asa[/name_u], but only on annoy. Thank you, again

[name_f]Daria[/name_f]
[name_f]Isolda[/name_f]
[name_f]Nephele[/name_f] (NEFF-ell-ee)
[name_f]Timothea[/name_f]
[name_f]Severine[/name_f]
[name_f]Odelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendoline[/name_f]/[name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Eulalie[/name_f]/[name_f]Eulalia[/name_f]
[name_f]Mariana[/name_f]/[name_f]Marisol[/name_f]/[name_f]Marigold[/name_f]
[name_f]Ravenna[/name_f]
[name_f]Liliana[/name_f]
Aracelie/[name_f]Aracelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucasta[/name_f]

I changed my name, and I highly recommend it if you’re really not happy with yours. For a long time I went by my grandmother’s name ([name_f]Blanche[/name_f], and I still do online) because I just didn’t like my own name at all. I read somewhere on here recently that [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]'s (the Russian princess) middle name was Nicolaevna (probably I spelled it wrong), which makes me think of [name_f]Nicolette[/name_f]/[name_f]Colette[/name_f] or even [name_f]Natalia[/name_f] even though that’s a completely different name.

[name_f]Natassia[/name_f] is a blended [name_f]Natasha[/name_f]/[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] that’s very pretty. There’s [name_f]Sarina[/name_f], which could be short for [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f], or a name on its own!

Other Russian sounding names I think you might like:
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u]
[name_f]Sonia[/name_f]
[name_f]Tatiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Mila[/name_f]
[name_f]Nadia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f]

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] / [name_f]Celia[/name_f]; I think it’s quite romantic and frilly yet at the same time very mature and proper, and as an adult you can control your own nickname so you wont end up with [name_f]Cece[/name_f] if you’re not a fan.

@morning_glory Thank you for your reply! From your suggestions I like [name_f]Amalia[/name_f], [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f] (actually on my list), [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], [name_f]Juliana[/name_f], [name_f]Winifred[/name_f], [name_f]Odelia[/name_f], & [name_f]Gwendolen[/name_f]/[name_f]Gwendoline[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f], [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], & [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f], but for one reason or another I can’t use any of those ones, unfortunately. Thank you, again :slight_smile:

@blanchekeyes Thank you so much for your reply & advice! Right now (as you probably read in my first post on this thread) I’m leaning more towards changing it. Hopefully, no matter what I choose, this will all work out for the better! I like [name_f]Natalia[/name_f], but I prefer [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] (and spelled [name_f]Nathalie[/name_f]). From your other suggestions I like [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] & [name_f]Tatiana[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Serina[/name_f] (though I prefer the spelling [name_f]Serena[/name_f]), but I just will always associate that name with Gossip Girl. I also like [name_f]Mila[/name_f], but I will always associate that name with [name_f]Mila[/name_f] Kunis. Thank you, again

@opheliaflora Thank you for your reply! I kind of go back and forth with liking [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] and not liking it. I like [name_f]Cece[/name_f], but I feel like it’s kind of a ‘cutesy’ nn, so I’d probably go by [name_f]Elle[/name_f] or [name_f]Ella[/name_f] for short, instead. Thank you, again

I love both [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] and [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]! [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] a bit more though.

I’m sure everything I’m going to suggest has already been suggested, but what about:

[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiammetta[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]
[name_f]Thomasina[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f]
[name_f]Artemisia[/name_f]
[name_f]Araminta[/name_f]
[name_f]Celestia[/name_f]
[name_f]Celestine[/name_f]
[name_f]Wisteria[/name_f]
[name_f]Phillipa[/name_f]
[name_f]Philomena[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Liliana[/name_f]
Madelieve
[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]
[name_f]Primrose[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
Stellula
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
Emmeliese
[name_f]Perla[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Luciana[/name_f]

Good luck on changing your name! I’m planning to change mine too, the only thing holding me up is my indecisiveness and just constantly second guessing myself.

@namechange93 Thank you for your reply! Yes, I’m leaning slightly more towards [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] myself. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t worry if it’s already been suggested! I’m interested to see which name the most people think is similar to [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]. From your suggestions I like [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] (on my lis), [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], [name_f]Philippa[/name_f], [name_f]Philomena[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] (on my list), [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] (on my list), & [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] (on my list). I also like [name_f]Araminta[/name_f], [name_f]Lavender[/name_f], [name_f]Thomasina[/name_f], [name_f]Wisteria[/name_f], & [name_f]Primrose[/name_f], I just can’t see myself being named those. Good luck on changing yours, too! I’m very indecisive and second guessing myself, as well. Thank you, again

[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] always reminded me of Asianna, pronounced [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-see-ana, and [name_f]Veronika[/name_f], pronounced [name_m]Vero[/name_m]-nika, not [name_f]Ver[/name_f]-on-ica. I knew two little russian girls by these names and thought they were so beautiful.

[name_f]Arianna[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] also remind me of [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f], and I quite like your idea of [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] as well.

Good luck.

[name_f]Christiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Annika[/name_f]
[name_f]Gabriella[/name_f]
[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleonora[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonora[/name_f]
[name_f]Mariella[/name_f]
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f]

So I just had to weigh in…you’ve probably already thought of this, but if you love the gorgeous [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] yet feel it’s too frilly, what about the [name_m]French[/name_m] version: the slightly sleeker [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]? I’m seriously considering this name for my next daughter. I’d probably use [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] for her formal name because it goes better with the middle name and then call her [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] because the “-ina” ending is too similar to one of my other daughter’s names. All that to say, I really love both names.

Here’s the rest of my list of my favorite names with 3+ syllables outside the US top 300:

[name_f]Adira[/name_f]
[name_f]Araceli[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ayelet[/name_f]
[name_f]Calanthe[/name_f]
[name_f]Dulcinea[/name_f]
[name_f]Elysia[/name_f]
[name_f]Endellion[/name_f]
[name_f]Ianthe[/name_f]
[name_f]Idony[/name_f]
[name_f]Ilaria[/name_f]
[name_f]Ione[/name_f]/[name_f]Iona[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivette[/name_f]
[name_f]Ottavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f]
[name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]
[name_f]Vasilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Verity[/name_f]

@silkypumpkin Thank you for your reply! I like [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]

@diane921 Thank you for your reply! From your suggestions I like [name_f]Annika[/name_f], [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f], & [name_f]Juliana[/name_f] (on my list). I kind of like [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], too, but I’ve known waayy too many mean girls named [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] nn [name_f]Bella[/name_f]. Thank you, again

@aread Thank you for your reply! I do like [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] very much, I just prefer [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] and would slightly prefer a 4 syllable name. From your suggestions I like [name_f]Endellion[/name_f], [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], [name_f]Olivette[/name_f], [name_f]Ottavia[/name_f], [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f], [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f], & [name_f]Verity[/name_f]. Thank you, again :slight_smile:
