So i wish to know the following

A) What names on the list do you particularly like and dislike and why? (Please dont feel the need to do them all or even most)
B) Do you think the names on the more popular list are too popular in comparison with the other names? Why or why not?
C) If you said no what names from that list do you think suit?

Sorry its a lot of info at once

A) Names I particularly like and why:
[name_m]Athens[/name_m] - very cool
[name_m]Cleary[/name_m] - has lovely imagery e.g. clear streams
[name_f]Connelly[/name_f] - love the sound of it and the [name_f]Billie[/name_f] [name_m]Connolly[/name_m] association!
[name_m]Cortland[/name_m] - Courtney’s cooler cousin
[name_f]Joplin[/name_f] - too cool!
[name_f]Lark[/name_f] - pretty and fun
[name_m]Quest[/name_m] - good strong word name
[name_f]Tansy[/name_f] - should be used more! Great nature name, sounds really bright and feisty.

Names I dislike and why:

I am torn between loving [name_m]East[/name_m] and finding it too difficult to wear. It would sound pretty harsh when said in a reprimanding tone of voice (so does [name_m]Beck[/name_m], my child’s name)! Also, estrogen or yeast potential close word associations?

[name_m]Draper[/name_m] - I just find it a bit downbeat and not a collection of sounds I like.

B & C) [name_f]Bridie[/name_f] has only just made a reappearance into the top 1000 (I’m referring to the US data - is that most relevant to you?) It’s still a unique choice. A few examples of siblings I think fit together :
[name_f]Birdie[/name_f] & [name_m]Athens[/name_m]
[name_f]Birdie[/name_f] & [name_f]Caprice[/name_f]
[name_f]Birdie[/name_f] & [name_m]Cleary[/name_m]
[name_f]Birdie[/name_f] & [name_f]Connelly[/name_f]

Similarity, [name_f]Clover[/name_f] is only just beginning to emerge into that data.

[name_f]Clover[/name_f] & [name_m]Dempsey[/name_m]
[name_f]Clover[/name_f] & [name_m]Shields[/name_m]
[name_f]Clover[/name_f] & [name_f]Solace[/name_f]
[name_f]Clover[/name_f] & [name_f]Garland[/name_f]
[name_f]Clover[/name_f] & [name_f]Tansy[/name_f]

My favourites on your current list

Athens - breezy and cool

Auburn - warm and distinctive and sparkly feeling

Breeze - bright and carefree

Caprice - snappy and sleek

Channing - warm but outdoorsy and charming

Chesney - appealing and warm in sound, but sassy too

Chord - I like the cool, hard sound and musical vibe

Cinder - Cinderella and sparkles, but also camp fires - just feels cool

Connelly - distinctive but flows easily and sounds good

Cortland - snappy and cool

Cricket - bright and zippy

Cypress - elegant and gentle but with a breeziness too

Dempsey - distinctive and unusual but friendly feeling

Flannery - literary and fun to say, familiar but unexpected

Joplin - musical, cool and sparky

Kerrigan - warm-but-rugged, stylish in a clunky-cool way

Knightley - it’s got glamour and toughness

Penn - gentle but sassy

Revell - happy feeling but sharp too

Rydell - it’s got a poetic but fresh feel

Sabre - sharp and cool in vibe, gentler in sound

Silver - sleek and shiny

Tansy - bright, bubbly and pretty

Tempest - cool and grounded in sound, but full of flair too

Tulsa - lively and pleasing to say

Winslet - sweet and charming

Zenith - very cool and sort of magical

My least favourites on your current list

Yardley - I just think it sounds unpleasant

Wyoming - maybe it could grow on me, but right not, it feels awkward

Whistler - wolf-whistling??

Thorne - a bit harsh for me

Spears - a bit harsh and tied to one person - feels too recent for me??

Teller / Springer / Painter / Draper / Drummer / Carpenter - these feel very specific and clunky or just not names I’d want

Buckley - not wild on the buck sound

Britt - but then, I am in Britain so :person_shrugging:

Dynasty - a bit much

The ones from your 'considering' list that I think work

I think these ones have the same distinctive and breezy feel, they fit in stylistically and mostly, they don’t sound/feel too much like other popular names - so even if they’re higher on the charts, it’s not obvious?

Bristol
Holland
Clover
Scout
Denver
Memphis
Whitley
Nori
Blaine
Montana
Landry
Jewel

I’ll be honest, both lists sounds outlandish and way too much.
I’m saving only [name_f]Prairie[/name_f], [name_f]Bliss[/name_f] and [name_f]Tempest[/name_f] but I probably would not use them.

Faves:
Cricket-unexpected and refreshing
Halcyon-hoping to see more love for this!
Lark-so sweet
Tempest-great if you want a mysterious feel
Vesper-love the snappy (is that the word?) feel
Winslet-the actress. exactly.
[name_f]Fallon[/name_f]-
Scout-such a classic
Arden-love this on a girl!
Nothing horrendously bad on this list, and the only name I would worry about popularity is [name_f]Ainsley[/name_f] (and [name_m]Denver[/name_m] if you’re worried about boy popularity)

No I don’t think your more popular names are too popular, many of them are still out of the top 1000.
(And I’m always happy to see Arden being considered.)

Names I think you should probably drop:
Chevy and Culver are very associated with brands, and Gatsby is very associated with a fictional character. I think those might be hard names to have.
Steely I would avoid because describing someone as steely means they are cold and emotionless.

Names from the list I like:
Vale, Revel, Quest, Prairie, Lumen, Lazuli, Jolie, Arden, Vesper, Lark, Laramie, Denali and Clover.

The following names from your current list fit your modern, cowgirl vibe the best:
[name_f]Auburn[/name_f], [name_f]Bliss[/name_f], [name_f]Britt[/name_f], [name_f]Chesney[/name_f], [name_m]Cortland[/name_m], [name_m]Dacre[/name_m], [name_m]Daley[/name_m], [name_m]Destry[/name_m], [name_f]Garland[/name_f], [name_m]Kerrigan[/name_m], [name_f]Laramie[/name_f], [name_f]Lively[/name_f], [name_f]Nevada[/name_f], [name_m]North[/name_m], [name_m]Painter[/name_m], [name_f]Prairie[/name_f], Shepry, [name_f]Shine[/name_f], [name_f]Tansy[/name_f], [name_m]Tennessee[/name_m], [name_f]Tierney[/name_f], [name_f]Tuesday[/name_f], [name_f]Tulsa[/name_f], [name_f]Valley[/name_f]

Some names I don’t particularly like from the first list:
[name_m]Buckley[/name_m] – having the word “buck” in it immediately makes it not work for a girl imo
[name_m]Chaplain[/name_m] – I feel like title names in general cause issues
[name_m]Crockett[/name_m] – feels very masculine d/t [name_m]Davy[/name_m] [name_m]Crockett[/name_m]
[name_m]Lumen[/name_m] – it’s the medical term for “lining,” so it honestly just makes me think of intestines
[name_f]Missouri[/name_f] – too similar to “misery”
Rumor – rumors are generally a good thing???
Spears – like the act of spearing something? I know there’s the [name_f]Brittany[/name_f] Spears association, but if you really think about the word itself…, not a great connotation.
[name_f]Swayze[/name_f] – too tied to [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] [name_f]Swayze[/name_f] to feel feminine.

I wouldn’t say any names from your second list are too common to go with the first!
