I like both [name_f]Luna[/name_f] and [name_f]Selene[/name_f] a lot. I’m less keen on [name_f]Selena[/name_f], which feels a little dated to me.
Other lovely moon-inspired names are [name_f]Freya[/name_f], Lusine and [name_f]Twila[/name_f].
I prefer [name_f]Selena[/name_f]. I also like the alternate spelling [name_f]Selina[/name_f]. My favorite moon inspired name is [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f].
I like [name_f]Selene[/name_f] from these 3. But my favourite is [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] Greek [name_f]Goddess[/name_f] of the [name_m]Hunt[/name_m], Forests and Hills, the [name_f]Moon[/name_f] & Archery. I love her story and so much of her persona resonates with me. Other names that are more usable are [name_f]Pheobe[/name_f] and [name_f]Cynthia[/name_f].
I used this site for reference on my Greek myth - Artemis • Greek Goddess of the Hunt and Moon - Facts and Information
And every time I picture [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] this image comes to mind - image of Artemis
That’s a great name also. I think [name_u]Artemis[/name_u]/[name_f]Diana[/name_f] and [name_f]Selene[/name_f]/[name_f]Luna[/name_f] are actually two different manifestations of the same goddess?
From Diana (mythology) - Wikipedia
[name_f]Diana[/name_f] was often considered an aspect of a triple goddess, known as [name_f]Diana[/name_f] triformis: [name_f]Diana[/name_f], [name_f]Luna[/name_f], and Hecate. According to historian C.M. [name_u]Green[/name_u], “these were neither different goddesses nor an amalgamation of different goddesses. They were [name_f]Diana[/name_f]…[name_f]Diana[/name_f] as huntress, [name_f]Diana[/name_f] as the moon, [name_f]Diana[/name_f] of the underworld.”
Although it is popular, [name_f]Luna[/name_f] is my favorite. I like [name_f]Selene[/name_f] too, but I’m not the biggest fan of [name_f]Selena[/name_f].
Thanks for the feedback so far!
For me, [name_f]Luna[/name_f] feels like the best fit for a baby or small girl, [name_f]Selena[/name_f] feels like the best name for a young woman (late teenager to 20’s), and [name_f]Selene[/name_f] sounds the most grown-up. I have trouble imagining a chubby toddler named [name_f]Selene[/name_f] or a 45-year old scientist/lawyer/CEO named [name_f]Luna[/name_f].
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you agree?
I like the sound of [name_f]Selene[/name_f] the best, all though I’m used to and prefer the [name_f]Celine[/name_f] spelling
