Name The Class (Fantastical Twist)

Hey guys,

As my frequent posting probably let you know, I absolutely love the Name the class (twist) forum and had an idea in regards to it - namely making a spinoff of sorts where we create classes, albeit they’re tied to fantasty, sci-fi, comic book etc. settings to switch things up?

If you’re interested I’d love to give this a go but there’s no pressure! And please feel free to include an original school if you’d like to as well!

@moonwriteen @kidpix21 @brightdarkblue @RileyAddison13 @cara_murvolio @I_meme_it - I tagged ya’ll as you’re frequent and recent posters ^u^

For anyone new the format’s pretty simple!

Ex:
P1: There are 14 students in Professor Harry Potter’s Defense Against the Dark Arts Class

The first kid is a Hufflepuff who enjoys travel, experimenting with makeup and baking.

P2: Elenora Mafalda Dawnridge

The next student is a Ravenclaw who doesn’t fit with the traditional mold on a surface level, seeming scatterbrained and going by organised chaos.

And so on!

Credit to @kidpix21 for the original concept!

11th Grade Chemistry (16-17 year olds, 27 students) - The Xavier Institute for Higher Learning

Chemistry at the Xavier Institute is being taught by a newly hired staff member who’s decision to become a teacher of said subject wasn’t influenced by her power: limited gravity manipulation. She was born and raised in Salford, Manchester - moving to the States specifically to teach fellow mutants after deciding she wanted a fresh start following a messy breakup with her doctor ex-boyfriend: a decision her parents worried about thanks to how impulsively she went for it. They trust their daughters’ judgment ultimately though and admit they’re a little overprotective on account of her mutant status - with her having faced some rebuttals as a child, mostly thanks to parents’ of her friends being scared of what she was capable of doing. This hasn’t dampened her fun-loving, strong willed demeanor and she’s very aware that sciences don’t appeal to everyone - so she modifies her lessons to be both accessible for everyone and engaging in their presentation. At twenty-nine she knows she wants to settle down and raise a family of her own some day, but meeting the right person - as she’s pansexual - has proved trickier than she’d like to admit, on the grounds of her typically being attracted to those more interested in a good time than thinking about the long term. She’s Afro-Asian and is dedicated to both parts of her cultural heritage - speaking Mandarin and Chinese fluently, as well as commonly cooking West Indies dishes, with the former actually being the first language she picked up as a child. Petite and quick on her feet, she has wavy black hair cut just beneath her shoulders and warm, coffee coloured eyes which she outlines in bright shades of liner - contrasted by the fact she prefers wearing minimalistic, pastel outfits both teaching and while relaxing (the main difference being in her down time she lives in comfy sports clothes, typically paired with an oversized, very soft jumper - being an avid runner, rock climber and base jumper). She’s well liked by her colleagues on account of her sunny disposition and drive to include everyone in socialising - albeit Rogue likes to joke she talks a hundred miles a minute and usually there’s about six layers to the story she’s telling you!

11th Grade Chemistry (16-17 year olds, 27 students) - The [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] Institute for Higher Learning
Teacher: Miss. [name_f]Luciana[/name_f] ‘Luca’ Mengyao Yang

The first student is someone determined to defy the odds and assumptions, including those of her family. Coming from a small town in Mississippi, she was expected to join the family business in ranching but her heart’s set upon journalism: specifically investigative reporting. She’s lived in the shadow of her older brother throughout life, as he agrees with their parents wishes much more readily and is already working for them; something that increased once her mutant power emerged and it further set her apart from the rest of the family. This means she can be more than a little self-deprecating and pessimistic from time-to-time, hiding this with a dry sense of humor. [name_m]Just[/name_m] above average height at 5’7", she’s got a pretty athletic build thanks to growing up doing a lot of horse riding and running about on the property, with strawberry blonde hair that’s cut into a bob and naturally wavy, complimenting her green eyes. Her preferred style is light academic, sprinkled with some cottagecore and romantic undertones - mostly in the prominent feature of the colour pink, which tends to come through in accessories or her makeup.

  1. Everly Rose Peterson (mutant power: paper manipulation)

The next girl grew up in central California, the granddaughter of migrant farmers. She and Everly have a bond because of their similar backgrounds, with this student having been raised around horses and farm life. She helped her parents at the general store that they run to supply their small town, along with her 3 siblings. Having always had a strong imagination, she gained the ability to teleport when she hit puberty, taking herself to real and fantastic locations. Her parents felt very concerned for her safety, thus sending her to the Xavier Institute, so she can learn to harness these powers. With striking gold-colored eyes with a dark rim around the irises, honey colored skin with freckles across her face, a broad smile and delicate jaw line, she is used to getting comments about her looks. She straightens her dark brown hair and often wears it in double french braids. She tends to dress vintage style, pairing military style with lace and embroidered floral designs.

  2. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_u]Willow[/name_u] [name_u]Camden[/name_u] (mutant power: teleportation)

The 3rd student is often perceived as rude due to the perpetually annoyed-looking expression on his face, but he’s actually a very nice person once you get to know him. He’s got a sardonic edge to his sense of humor, and is really only open with one person- his partner. He recently came out as bi, and his family was very supportive. He was born and raised in [name_m]Ontario[/name_m], [name_f]Canada[/name_f], and sent to move to [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] Institute when his powers were discovered. He’s a bit mad about it and misses his family dearly, especially his little sister, who’s in middle school. He hates even more the fact that he can’t tell any of his friends about this, but he’s happy that at least he can bring his tortoise, [name_m]Ernie[/name_m], along with him. He considers [name_m]Ernie[/name_m] to be his soulmate (along with his partner, of course), and loves that tortoise like it’s a son. He also keeps a [name_f]Venus[/name_f] flytrap, who he named [name_m]Brandon[/name_m].

His aesthetic is a mix of 90s and grunge, and he wears lots of graphic tees and hoodies along with baggy jeans to hide his skinny beanpole body which he’s a bit embarrassed of. He’s 5’11 and three quarters, but insists that he’s a quarter taller and hopes he grows. His skin is pale, and he has a dusting of freckles that cover his cheeks, nose and neck. His hair, a strawberry blonde mop, falls in his big hazel eyes, and he’s dyed sections of his bangs light honey blonde to contrast the redness. He has his helix and antitragus as well as four earlobe piercings on his left ear, but only one lobe piercing on his right to add an edge to his look, and he wears contacts to avoid the nerdiness of glasses. He’s also got a full sleeve of tattoos, and wears his hand me down black Docs every day.

  3. [name_u]Axel[/name_u] [name_u]Douglas[/name_u] Beaulieu (mutant power: aerokinesis)

This 4th student is an animal lover, which comes in handy when her power is being able to talk to animals. The daughter of two mutants who went to the [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] Institute themselves, she was born and raised in Finland (a convenient location for her mother, who has ice manipulation powers). When her powers were discovered, her family thought it was best to call the [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] Institute and move back to the US so she wouldn’t be so far from her family. She is very kind, but determined and intelligent. She’s been training with a few of her professors in honing her powers so she can become a teacher at the Institute once she grows up, and is particularly close with Professor [name_m]Munroe[/name_m] and Professor Pryde. [name_u]Loving[/name_u] her heritage, she hopes to teach Finnish at the school.

Her icy blue eyes pairs well with her shoulder-length dark brown hair and extremely pale skin. She’s about 5’6" and dresses in a very maximalist aesthetic, always looking like the cool girl at the Institute.

The fifth student is 16 years old and a good friend of [name_f]Gwennie[/name_f], whose outgoing and bubbly personality has earned her a spot in the hearts of many professors and students alike at [name_m]Xavier[/name_m]. She’s admittedly a little (okay, very) scatterbrained at times, and operates in a form of organized chaos that only she understands, but she’s a very good student and is very intelligent, picking up on new subjects and concepts very quickly. Her superpower is levitation, which she thinks is really cool, though she hasn’t quite gotten a grip on it yet and has (quite embarrassingly) started levitating randomly in class a few times- luckily, her powers come with their perks too, especially because she’s captain of the cheer team, and being a flyer who can actually fly is pretty awesome. She’s also treasurer of the pottery club, which she loves being a part of. Her and her family are originally from Cape Town, [name_u]South[/name_u] [name_f]Africa[/name_f], which is realllly far away- she’s so glad they moved with her though when her powers were discovered, and she’s very close with them as well as her culture. She has two little siblings, twin boys who are 12, and she’s their best friend, along with their shared pet parakeet, Ladybug.

Appearance: This student has caramel brown skin, and deep almost-black brown eyes almost always underlined with white liner that complement her tawny skin tone well. She has three piercings on each earlobe, as well as a septum piercing. Her hair is originally dark brown, but it’s dyed a bright shade of orange and goes to her shoulders and is coily, she she often wears it in space buns or cute white butterfly clips. She’s 5’2 and has a thin and lithe but muscular build, and is a ball of energy waiting to be released. Her aesthetic is a delicate feminine sort of coquette, implementing lots of white corsets, soft frilly skirts, necklaces, stockings and lace-up off-white brogues.

The 6th student is someone who prefers keeping their head down, for numerous reasons. His grandfather worked for Department K - also known as Weapon X - a Canada-based ‘research facility’ unanimous with exploitation, genetic manipulation and megalomania, something his parents were unaware of until after they married, and a huge rift formed prior to his birth. This doesn’t mean it doesn’t factor into his thoughts on a daily basis, specifically what harm his own blood inflicted on other’s, and it isn’t a surprise that his mother refuses to be referred to by her maiden name under any circumstances. He attends regular counselling sessions, both internally and also externally while visting family in [name_m]Montreal[/name_m], having alwahs been a homebody who prefers peace, quiet and being able to disappear into a podcast or ebook.

This isn’t a surprise, as his mutant ability is cyberpathy. While not quite as glamarous as technopathy, he never gets phased by focusing more on data, coding and digital, having been mentored by Karima Shapandar since he began attending the Institute just over 3 years ago. It’s other greatest benefit is he’s easily able to communicate with his childhood best friend, who’s still in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] and very much leading a more unassuming life. Leaving home was particularly rough for him, but it’s something he’s gradually acclimatised to, especially when he thinks about the chance of running into his grandfather - although it never really escapes his thoughts.

Standing at just 6 foot tall, this student has quite a fair complexion, being prone to burning beneath the sun opposed to tanning. His veins are notably pronounced at all times, and when maximising his power limits, they glow a very pale shade of blue, something he can be quite self-conscious about. Mirroring his build, he has a slender face and long nose, which is threaded with a silver piece of jewellery mimicking a paperclip. He has soft hazel eyes that compliment the saffron of his hair, which he’s recently grown out, and its shaggy texture makes a layering cut much more flattering: which he’s pleased about. Usually his fingers are bearing rings, a trait he picked up from his mum. His fashion aesthetic is inspired by [name_u]Brit[/name_u] Pop figures with a hint of techwear: wide leg jeans and cargo pants; high neck sports jackets; white heavily features, with bright greens, purples and yellows serving as accents, and he’s particularly discerning with his jacket choices.

I made a writing mistake last night and accidentally gave [name_f]Lumi[/name_f] a name that didn’t reflect her cultural heritage, I’ve caught the error and have fixed her name accordingly! ^u^

The 7th student is a reserved, antisocial girl who prefers slipping under the radar for a number of reasons, one of which being her relative newness to the school, having only joined last month. Her ability is pyrokinesis, though she considers it to be more of a curse than anything. She’s known about her gifts since a young age and learned to conceal them.

Originally hailing from the UK, her father’s a fashion designer who owns a successful magazine, called Starbound Fashion. She worked as one of his models ever since her youth and was the apple of his eye- that was, until she lost control of her powers and burnt down an entire set while shooting for a popular brand name. Her father was shocked and outraged, and decided to send her to the [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] Institute to protect his brand and his name.

Since being sent to the Institute, she’s made connections with some students, but none more than surface-level. She’s often seen as condescending due to her lack of real friendships and unwillingness to talk to people in the class, along with her being a wealthy man’s spoiled daughter, but she’s really just genuinely shy. She’s also closed off because she’s scared of hurting someone with her powers- she knows she’s one of the more powerful students in the class and fears that she’ll lose control again.

[name_m]Even[/name_m] though she worked as a model for some of her dad’s clothes, and she enjoyed modeling, she doesn’t really want to model. She’s super short, uncoordinated, and the only reason she gained success in the industry is because of her infamous father. She really wants to be an archaeologist, history has always fascinated her.

Small, skinny and standing at a puny 5’0, her thick, wavy hair is worn to her shoulders and has a unique strawberry-blonde color that naturally has a pinkish undertone and goes nicely with her pale, rosy skin. Her eyes are a stormy blueish-greenish-gray. She wears on-trend, fashionable clothes, preferably white, black and grey tones. She wears lots of bodysuits, fitted tank-tops, and puffer coats and vests in the autumn and winter, as well as flare black leggings that accentuate her thin legs. She always carries her white Kanken backpack with her everywhere.

The eighth student is a boisterous, outgoing, and enthusiastic person who talks to every person they come into contact with. They live permanently at the [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] institute, as they were bouncing through the foster system before realising they were a mutant.

Originally from [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_u]Zealand[/name_u], they speak [name_f]English[/name_f], [name_u]French[/name_u], Mandarin, [name_m]Dutch[/name_m], Russian, Korean and Maori - one of the national languages of [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_u]Zealand[/name_u] - fluently, and are in the middle of teaching themselves Latin, Spanish and [name_m]German[/name_m]. Other than languages, which is where they excel as that is their mutant power, they don’t do very well at school, although they do try their hardest.

They realised their proficiency with languages when they were 13, and started high school, and became fluent in the language they started learning, [name_u]French[/name_u], within a few months. After learning Mandarin within another 2 months, they realised what was going on, and immediately got a part time job, in order to get to the USA, where they knew they would be able to meet more people like them.

Now at the [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] Institute, they are friends with pretty much everyone, though they do have multiple closer friends, as well as a girlfriend. They pretend to not notice when people talk about them behind their back, even though they aren’t very good at hiding it, and shouldn’t be doing it in the first place. One girl even tried to convince them her name was [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], in order to make them look stupid in front of a large tour group that was passing through.

They are tall, with impossible to tame wavy shoulder-length dark brown hair. They recently got glasses, which are large, circular metal-framed ones. They prioritise practicality and comfort over looks. They carry books with them everywhere, in order to read whenever they get bored.

The ninth student is an awkward and forgetful but charming kid, who identifies as a demiboy and uses he/they pronouns. They’ve got a naturally happy-go-lucky, carefree feel to them that’s almost reminiscent of a main character in a kids’ story. He’s been attending the institute ever since he discovered their mutant power, which is limited cloning- they can create duplicates of himself that he can mind control, but they only last for 15 minutes to an hour.

He thinks his power is kind of stupid and useless compared to the rest of the class’, mainly because of how limited it is, but he doesn’t mind- they’re just happy to be learning in a safe environment even though they really miss their home. They were raised on a ranch in rural [name_u]Kansas[/name_u], and grew up around plenty of horses, his favorite animal. When school gets out, he’s always excited to see his beloved white-and-black mare, [name_u]Domino[/name_u] " [name_m]Dom[/name_m] ", his best friend.

Sandwiched between five siblings, he grew up smack dab in the middle and maintains a close relationship with all of them to this day. As much as they love the rural lifestyle, they feel naturally drawn towards the city and love the atmosphere of large cities such as [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_u]York[/name_u]. Their passion is for music, and they release a lot of trap-inspired songs to their Soundcloud, cryxtalc0re, and while they haven’t gained much recognition, they’re hoping to catch their big break someday.

Having just barely hit his growth spurt, he’s 5’3" tall, with a long-legged boyish figure. Their skin is fair and freckled from helping out on the farm before being sent to the institute. Their eyes are a unique piercing shade of amber, and his curly hair is light reddish-brown. He has really thick eyelashes, and is often described as a “pretty boy.” Their aesthetic tends towards grunge and dark alt themes, with some punk-ish elements mixed in. They wear lots of bulky cargo jeans with belts, graphic tees and hoodies, and sweaters in dark colors. He wears lots of layered necklaces, and always wears his favorite pair of lace-up red sneakers he’s had since they were twelve. He has lots of cutesy little drawings on his hands, and loves to draw on himself when he’s bored.
