Here’s a list of names I really like for my third. I’m wondering if anyone has suggestions on one I might LOVE. These ones just aren’t it. With both my boys, we came up with their names before they were even conceived and they stuck for years. I would love to love my daughters name just as much. Here’s some names on our list and why I like them but don’t love them.

I think I tend to go for 2 syllable names that are 4 or 5 letters haha. Not too short but not long.

[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]- I like the way it sounds happy and cheerful and frilly. I dislike that it ends in the Y sound as it’s the same sound our last name ends in. I also keep hearing it being used and I might want something a little more unique.

[name_f]Luna[/name_f]- Despite the popularity we really like this one a lot. It sounds really good with our last name too. It’s also my brother in laws dogs name which holds us back from using it.

[name_f]Zara[/name_f]- I want to LOVE this because it’s got the kind of sound I’m going for, sounds good with our last name, and I don’t know anyone by this name which is a huge plus for us. BUT I don’t love that [name_f]Zara[/name_f] is a really popular clothing store and that bothers me a bit.

[name_u]Sunny[/name_u]- [name_u]Love[/name_u] this in theory but don’t know if I would want my name to be [name_u]Sunny[/name_u]. Is it over the top happy?

[name_f]Olive[/name_f]- Another top contender. Sounds quirky, not overly used, I’m just not totally sold.

[name_f]Maple[/name_f]- Also love this name in theory. Is she going to get confused with [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] all the time though?

[name_m]Ozzy[/name_m]- I love and appreciate a unisex name sometimes, it’s very out there for a girl, I just think it sounds really cool. But also could be way too out there.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are [name_f]Maple[/name_f] and [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m]! I personally pronounce [name_f]Maple[/name_f] as one syllable and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] as two so the difference is obvious to me, but it woldn’t be too difficult to correct people who heard [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]. [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m] is sweet. I love it on a boy but I also like it on a girl. I don’t think it’s too out there at all, because it reminds me of [name_f]Izzie[/name_f] which is a super popular nickname because of all the girls named [name_f]Isabel[/name_f]/Isobel/Isabelle/Isabella.
I also adore [name_u]Sunny[/name_u]! But if you’re not sure, what about [name_f]Sanna[/name_f] nickname [name_u]Sunny[/name_u]? Maybe even [name_f]Sonja[/name_f] nicknamed [name_u]Sunny[/name_u].

Curious how you pronounce maple as one syllable? I say maple like maple syrup?

Hmm I guess it’s two but it sounds shorter when I say it quickly. Whereas with [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] it’s clearly longer when I say it, because I put emphasis on the ‘‘eh’’ sound. Sorry if that’s confusing!

Daisy-Oh, I love it too. It’s on the top of my list, & it’s special to me because it honors my dad, [name_m]David[/name_m]. But I agree that it’s getting a bit more popular. Are you in the U.S. or U.K? In the U.S, I think it’s fine popularity wise. It’s been hovering around 150 for the past 30 years. No sudden jumps upward towards the top. So, if popularity is the only thing holding you back, I wouldn’t worry about it. If you just don’t love it, but want similar suggestions (that still aren’t way way popular), how about…

Luna-Now this one is insanely popular. And I’m not surprised that you know a dog named this. I’d venture to guess at least 30% of dogs are called this.

Zara-Is the only reason that you don’t like this because of the clothing brand? I’ve totally never heard of it. [name_f]Zara[/name_f] is neat. It’s not really my cup of tea, but I totally see the appeal. It’s kind of vintage, strong, feminine, quirky, simple but unique.

Maple-It’s so cute. I think that it’s even better than [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], because it has that nature-y element too. [name_m]Will[/name_m] she get confused w/Mabel? Maybe. But it’s not like [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] is that popular of a name.

Ozzy-This is way not my style. It just reminds me too much of [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m] [name_m]Osburne[/name_m]. Not too nice for a sweet little girl.

[name_f]Zara[/name_f] - i don’t think the store matters. especially with names like [name_f]Yara[/name_f] entering pop culture)
