Name to go with last name Hill

We are having a hard time coming up with a name for our son and I am due in just a few weeks! I can’t decide if a longer syllable name (2-3) would sound better with the short last name of [name]Hill[/name]. Or would a one syllable name sound ok too? I would love other people’s opinions and a fresh suggestions of names. I tend to lean towards somewhat classic names for boys that aren’t too different or weird, but not too common (if that makes sense.) Thanks in advance everyone!

I think a longer syllable name sounds best with the last name [name]Hill[/name].
Suggestions:
[name]Julian[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Alexander[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Adam[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Connor[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Donovan[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Dexter[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Elliott[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Everett[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Frederick[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Garrett[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Ian[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Logan[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Laurence[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Martin[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Nathan[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Simon[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Sebastian[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Jonah[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Geoffrey[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Gavin[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Damon[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Damian[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Spencer[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Xavier[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Theodore[/name] [name]Hill[/name] ([name]Theo[/name] [name]Hill[/name])
[name]Thaddeus[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Tobin[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Zachary[/name] [name]Hill[/name]

I honestly think a short name could work just as well as a long name. ex [name]Seth[/name] [name]Hill[/name] - also, I would avoid the name [name]Jonah[/name] [name]Hill[/name] as that is the name of an actor - unless you really like [name]Jonah[/name] [name]Hill[/name] and want to use him as a namesake.

[name]Xander[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Xavier[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Samson[/name] [name]Hill[/name]

Good luck!

Can you give us a few names you like for style and the rest of your family’s names?

I knew a [name]Zachary[/name] [name]Hill[/name] (always called [name]Zach[/name]) in college. I think a one syllable like [name]Zach[/name] sounds just fine.

Thanks so much for all the suggestion! I appreciate it so much. I think a one syllable first name could work as well, just wanted to make sure I wasn’t the only one.

We have a son named Tyler and we both are the youngest in really large families so TONS of names we love have already been taken…It kills me! We are struggling because we just can’t seem to find a name we love and we don’t want to just settle on one. I really want a name that is more traditional and not too trendy and can work through his childhood but also when he’s an adult. There’s a lot of names that I can’t picture an adult male having for some reason.

Anyway, some names we kind of like are: Jacob, Ryan, Blake, James/Jameson, Isaac, Eli (but I’m afraid it’s waaay to short with our last name), Curtis, Spencer…

My husband really likes Carter, Connor, Logan, Mason but I’m wondering if those are just a little too trendy-ish…not sure I can picture those on him as an adult???

Off of your list, I’d pick [name]Blake[/name].

I think your husband’s names would work on an adult, but I’m not sure I think any of them sound that great with [name]Hill[/name].

Ya, thats the problem I have…we don’t have a weird or hard to say last name but it sometimes seems so simple that a lot of names don’t really flow with it very well.

Any other suggestions??

I think any of the names you’ve listed sound fine with [name]Hill[/name], and if you don’t really like [name]Eli[/name], how about [name]Elias[/name], [name]Elijah[/name], or [name]Elliott[/name]? Some others:

[name]Tyler[/name] and [name]Caleb[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Tyler[/name] and [name]Cody[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Tyler[/name] and [name]Jackson[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Tyler[/name] and [name]Wesley[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Tyler[/name] and [name]Gavin[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Tyler[/name] and [name]Lorcan[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Tyler[/name] and [name]Patrick[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Tyler[/name] and [name]Sullivan[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Tyler[/name] and [name]Julian[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Tyler[/name] and [name]Donovan[/name]
[name]Tyler[/name] and [name]Garrett[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Tyler[/name] and [name]Adam[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Tyler[/name] and [name]Emmett[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Tyler[/name] and [name]Rory[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Tyler[/name] and [name]Brody[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Tyler[/name] and [name]Clayton[/name] [name]Hill[/name]
[name]Tyler[/name] and [name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Hill[/name]

[name]Love[/name] the pp’s suggestions of longer names with nn [name]Eli[/name]. [name]Donovan[/name] and [name]Zachary[/name] occurred to me immediately for some reason too. FYI my husband has a 1-1 name and given that I’m obsessed with names I asked him one day if he ever wished he had a longer name. His answer was “occasionally” - but he likes his name just fine. I say if it comes down to a longer name and a one-syllable name go with the longer one, but if you like a shorter one better, use it.

With [name]Tyler[/name] I could also see…

[name]Derek[/name]
[name]Jeremy[/name]
[name]Jonathan[/name]
[name]Joshua[/name]
[name]Malcolm[/name]
[name]Preston[/name]

And many more. Good luck!

I also have a one syllable, four letter last name. My husband’s name is [name]Ian[/name] (short, but two syllables), and his brother is [name]Graham[/name] (one syllable…but kind of a long one syllable, if you know what I mean?) and I think both work splendidly. Which is to say: it can be short. I would be more concerned about it flowing well, since [name]Hill[/name] is short and with an abrupt first name it could sound choppy. I actually think [name]Graham[/name] [name]Hill[/name] sounds quite nice!

I like many of the suggestions above, particularly [name]Caleb[/name], [name]Gavin[/name], [name]Benjamin[/name], [name]Spencer[/name], [name]Jacob[/name].

[name]Happy[/name] naming!

hmmmm…
With [name]Tyler[/name] & [name]Hill[/name] in consideration I like…

[name]Blake[/name]
[name]Jameson[/name]
[name]Morgan[/name]
[name]Silas[/name]
[name]Donovan[/name]
[name]Carson[/name]
[name]Elliott[/name]
[name]Jude[/name]
[name]Collin[/name]
[name]Derek[/name]
[name]Levi[/name]
[name]Ryan[/name]
[name]Clark[/name]
[name]Andrew[/name]

Well I think that [name]Grant[/name] [name]Hill[/name] would be a great choice. It has a lovely classic sound to it and blends well with your surname.
