Yay, new thread!

[name_m]Can[/name_m] we take this moment to question what [name_u]Charles[/name_u] Dickens was thinking when he named his ten children? They are: [name_u]Charley[/name_u], [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_m]Lucifer[/name_m] Box, [name_u]Walter[/name_u], Chickenstalker, [name_m]Alfred[/name_m], [name_u]Sydney[/name_u], [name_u]Henry[/name_u], [name_f]Dora[/name_f], and Plorn

technically some of those were nicknames but he really did call one child Plorn day-to-day

The full names (excluding surnames) of his ten children were:

[name_u]Charles[/name_u] Culliford Boz (1837-1896) “Charley”

[name_f]Mary[/name_f] (1838-1896)

[name_f]Kate[/name_f] Macready (1839-1829) “Lucifer Box” (nicknamed due to temper)

[name_u]Walter[/name_u] [name_m]Landor[/name_m] (1841-1863) (named after writer and poet [name_u]Walter[/name_u] Savage Landor)

[name_u]Francis[/name_u] [name_m]Jeffery[/name_m] (1844-1886) “Chickenstalker” (nicknamed for a character in The Chimes)

[name_m]Alfred[/name_m] D’Orsay [name_m]Tennyson[/name_m] (1845-1912)

[name_u]Sydney[/name_u] [name_m]Smith[/name_m] Haldimand (1847-1872)

[name_u]Henry[/name_u] [name_m]Fielding[/name_m] (1849-1933)

[name_f]Dora[/name_f] [name_f]Annie[/name_f] (1850-1851) (named after a character in [name_u]David[/name_u] Copperfield)

[name_u]Edward[/name_u] Bulwer [name_m]Lytton[/name_m] (1852-1902) “Mr Plornishmaroontigoonter” shortened to “The [name_u]Noble[/name_u] Plorn” shortened to just “Plorn”

I’m more concerned about how Kate lived -10 years

All I can say is that I’m thankful Chickenstalker isn’t his real name.

Someone on the NaNoWriMo forums commented on how writers overthink names while parents just pick something purely based on sound

Based on his birth year, he shouldn’t be 17 until 2025. The math is wrong.

For those who don’t know, Football Manager is a game that lets you make a “save” (play the game for a while) that can go many years into the future. It’s basically the journey of a soccer/football manager, you can take charge of any team and the whole premise is that you take your team to the top.

Should’ve put an Info Summary at the top, as I doubt anyone here plays it. As a matter of fact, neither do I, and I’ve only heard of it on meme sites and others discussions.

No hate to [name_f]Chloe[/name_f] ofc, it’s just interesting how differently it’s viewed here compared to similar names
