I mean, given I’ve heard of their footballers being called EdenĂlson, KlĂ©berson, [name_u]John[/name_u] [name_u]Lennon[/name_u] and [name_m]Marx[/name_m] [name_m]Lenin[/name_m] I wouldn’t be that shocked to see one called Francinilton :woman_shrugging:

There are two types of namers in the world:

Ones who obsess over connotations with a name, to the point they won’t name their kid [name_m]Albert[/name_m] because their sister’s bestfriend’s miniature dachshund is also named [name_m]Albert[/name_m] (random name example)

Ones like this guy, who have serious connotations with a name that could potentially put a partner off yet they don’t mention them and use it anyway

If I had a nickel for every time I accidentally signed off an email telling someone to “have a [name_f]Greta[/name_f] day” instead of “have a great day” I would have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.

I caught that reference! [name_f]My[/name_f] husband uses that all the time

me last night at a party

guy: my name is sasha

me [about to name-nerd out]: oh cool! is it just sasha on its own or is it short for alexander?

guy [completely serious and unironic]: it’s actually short for sashimi

me:
oh!

Omg nooo that is so funny, but I asked my friend [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] (girl) if her name was short for [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], and she just stared at me!! Apparently she didn’t even know it could be a nn for [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] rather than a full name :smiling_face_with_tear:

[name_f]My[/name_f] toxic trait is spending weeks upon weeks pouring over names, only to not add anything new at all to my list.

Also, titling a document Normal Names and then including the combo [name_u]Makepeace[/name_u] [name_m]Joah[/name_m].

In case you thought you take naming way too seriously

On September 30, 1994, Dominique Bellaton lured the couple Antonio Dutoit and Suzanne Robinson, along with their 2-month-old baby Christopher-Emmanuel, to Di Mambro’s chalet at 199 chemin Belisle in Morin-Heights. Di Mambro ordered the murder, regarding the baby as the Antichrist, because his own daughter (who he believed had divine powers) was named Emmanuelle and he had not been consulted in the naming of the infant

I started typing anything with a slash with spaces between the words and the slash (i.e. name / berry instead of name/berry) because when I was making posts on here, I wanted the names to automatically link
and now, that’s just how I type slashes for everything :man_shrugging: Thanks NB for literally changing my habits
