Wait wait wait wait… congratulations! [name_f][/name_f] How do I keep missing your babies :joy::joy::joy:[name_f][/name_f]. Can’t wait to see what name you use! [name_f][/name_f] Your kiddos are so lucky to have a mummy who has such excellent taste. [name_f][/name_f]

Ahh my best friend is in [name_f]London[/name_f] and she’s said the same! [name_f][/name_f] The only thing we could think of is that other vintage names just caught on first, like [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] and [name_f]Florence[/name_f]?

[name_f][/name_f]

And yay, hope you can find some new favorites! [name_f][/name_f] I definitely have from doing this. [name_f][/name_f]

Maybe? [name_f][/name_f] Ironically I feel like [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] has become less and less popular since the Afflecks used it however many years ago. [name_f][/name_f] It is a stunning name, I would love to see [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] catch on!

[name_f][/name_f]

Well thank you for voting for [name_f]Adele[/name_f] too because otherwise I would’ve been the only one :joy::joy::joy:

That would be interesting! [name_f][/name_f] I don’t know that I could make that happen though given respecting people’s privacy, but I am considering a weighted list for next year. [name_f][/name_f] Have people rank them as close to in order of their favorites as possible, then give everyone’s #1s[name_f][/name_f] 25 points and the number 25 names only 1 point? [name_f][/name_f] It would be interesting to see how that changes things. [name_f][/name_f] I think it would help avoid having so many ties within the top 25, anyway? [name_f][/name_f] Still mulling it over, but it’s an idea anyway lol

if only I could get Americans to pronounce Adèle and Adélie like the French do, I would use the name in a heartbeat :sob:

Oof forgot to answer this, but yes lol, I got probably close to double the number of answers I got last year!

[name_f][/name_f]

Oh that would be fun! [name_f][/name_f] There’s so many, I’m not sure how I would decide. But maybe I’ll post a CAF in a few days!

[name_f][/name_f]

No kidding! [name_f][/name_f] I think [name_f]Adèle[/name_f] may have eclipsed [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] as my favorite girls name, so maybe that’s fine with me because it will still be unexpected if I get to use it. [name_f][/name_f] :joy::joy:

Ahhhhh thank you for the full list. And I’m not surprised [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is in the top couple names. I was surprised so many people liked it so much. It’s been my favorite name for so long and my husband vetoed it IMMEDIATELY. I still haven’t given up hope :sob:

Oh no! [name_f][/name_f] Well I hope he comes around some day! [name_f][/name_f] She’s so lovely!

Oh, I love these!! I’m quite surprised that [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is number one, I think of her as a very Nameberry name, but not necessarily one of the favorites. [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f], and [name_f]Clio[/name_f] being in the top 25 surprise me as well!!

[name_f][/name_f]

If I were naming a girl from this list, I’d probably be picking between [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Fern[/name_f], and [name_f]June[/name_f] as a first. Today, she’d be [name_f]Fern[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f][name_f][/name_f] :white_heart::rainbow:

Oh that would be a fun follow-up thread idea too! [name_f][/name_f] I think if I had to name a little wonder with these names, she’d be [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Clio[/name_f]! [name_f][/name_f] [name_m]Just[/name_m] may have to create that thread in a day or two :joy::joy:

Thank you for doing this!

I’m so happy but shocked Frances made it to 5.

(I voted for Frances, Rosemary and Eleanor.)

I’ve lurked on the forums forever, and Fern is an even bigger surprise than Frances… so are Iris, June, Marigold and Clio to an extent. The rest of the names are as expected, though the rankings are not - I expected Rose to be much higher, for one. It’s a relief that both Beatrice and Beatrix made it, because I figured that people strongly prefer one over the other (I know I do) and that would split the vote.

Yes! This is a great idea. It’s the first thing that came into my mind when I opened this post - sure, Josephine’s at 1, but how many people have put Josephine at the top of their personal lists?

I think a weighted list also helps the top names from feeling less ‘safe’/predictable. Which is not to say this list isn’t a good representation of what’s popular on the forums - it is! But the trouble is that if a lot of people think name XYZ is pretty neat and put it on their lists, and a smaller number of people think name ABC is the most perfect name ever, XYZ still pulls ahead of ABC in the rankings.

It would be interesting to see what names can evoke the ‘this is amazing’ response versus just the ‘it’s really nice’ response.

The trouble is that the calculations become much more cumbersome - and then there’s the fact that many people, myself included, are ‘incapable’ of ranking their lists. Still, it’s a good idea… do you mind if I try now, or do you want to do it yourself next year?

[name_f][/name_f]

You are more than welcome to try! [name_f][/name_f] A fair number of people listed theirs in alphabetical order so I don’t know that it will be super accurate this time but I would be curious how it changes things. [name_f][/name_f]

[name_f][/name_f]

And [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] I expected, both seem to be in the top 25 every year I’ve done these. [name_f][/name_f] It’s fascinating that over time, [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] seems to be more preferred than [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] though!

Most people didn’t specify whether their lists are in order or not, so I’ll probably have to open a new thread. Thanks :slightly_smiling_face:

Ahh this is so exciting!! So many gorgeous names in the top 25, mostly not my style but I can understand why they’re so beloved <3

[name_f][/name_f]

The highest achievers from my list are [name_f]Galatea[/name_f], [name_f]Kestrel[/name_f], and [name_f]Orestina[/name_f], with 3 entries each. Honestly, I was a little surprised that [name_f]Kestrel[/name_f] didn’t rank higher, I feel like I see her quite often!!

[name_f][/name_f]

Also surprised [name_f]Ursuline[/name_f] fared better than either [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] or [name_f]Ursa[/name_f], but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised given how many -ine names are higher up.

[name_f][/name_f]

Thank you so much for compiling this list!!

Hahaha my best friend (who used to be a berry, she doesn’t really come on anymore), [name_f]Galatea[/name_f] is one of her favorite names and she was so tickled to hear you submitted it on your list! [name_f][/name_f] I can’t remember who else submitted it, but anyways. [name_f][/name_f] She wanted to see your whole submission list right away! [name_f][/name_f] :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:[name_f][/name_f] (Of course I obliged.)

Crazy seeing [name_f]Avie[/name_f] on there, that was my favorite ten[name_f][/name_f] years ago!!! Looks like for the most part the girls names in the top spots are similar to that of the actual US and UK rankings. We’re a little more ambitious with our boys it seems

[name_m]Just[/name_m] like the boys list, I like all of these! I think the Nameberry community definitely has a preference towards more traditional, vintage names
