We are due later this month with twins girls (which really means they could come at any time). Our older daughter is [name]Amelie[/name] [name]Grace[/name] ([name]Grace[/name] is a family name), a name we love. We decided on her name as soon as we found out we were pregnant and so we had no name discussions… This time is much more difficult. I would like to find names we love as much as [name]Amelie[/name] and that also work with [name]Amelie[/name]. Husband/children’s last name is a three letter animal name that rhymes with Box.
We think one baby will be [name]Clara[/name]. We’re not sure on the middle name though we have contemplated [name]Genevieve[/name]. For the other twin we are considering:
[name]Alice[/name]: family name; husband doesn’t want to use as first name, not sure if I want it as middle if first name ends in “a”
[name]Linnea[/name]: husband’s top choice to be other twin’s name; I’m the one who suggested it to him and I like it but have a coworker at work with this name and I’m not sure if I like the [name]Linn[/name] part; also does it go with [name]Clara[/name] (I think it goes with [name]Amelie[/name])
[name]Olivia[/name]–we both like this name but it is too popular
[name]Mireille[/name]–we both like but I have strong reservations about pronunciation/spelling issues
[name]Juliette[/name]/[name]Julianna[/name]–husband likes; this would not be my choice for a first name
[name]Lucia[/name]–I like, husband doesn’t want as first name
[name]Fiona[/name]–we both like but we don’t like the alliteration with the last name
We came up with [name]Clara[/name] after reading these forums (it wasn’t a name we had considered before) so I’m hoping for more inspiration!
So what are your thoughts on the above names? Other suggestions?
[name]Amelie[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is just beautiful! And I love [name]Clara[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] for one of her twin siblings! To go with [name]Clara[/name], I like the pp’s suggestion of [name]Charlotte[/name]. I also really like [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Juliet[/name] together. Also, how about:
I definitely think that [name]Clara[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] is PERFECT! As to the other sister, from your list I like [name]Juliette[/name] and [name]Linea[/name]. [name]Both[/name] names have the most flow to me. Other names I would suggest: [name]Estelle[/name], [name]Corinne[/name], and [name]Beatrice[/name].
[name]How[/name] about [name]Livia[/name] as an alternative to [name]Olivia[/name]? I think [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Livia[/name] sound good with each other and [name]Amelie[/name].
I think [name]Amelie[/name] [name]Grace[/name], [name]Clara[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] and [name]Alice[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] sound so so gorgeous together! Also think [name]Linnea[/name] [name]Mirabel[/name] is cute - and [name]Mirabel[/name] is easier to get your head around than [name]Mireille[/name]!
[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Amelie[/name] [name]Grace[/name], absolutly gorgeous! I think that [name]Clara[/name] fits in perfectly with [name]Amelie[/name], and would be an awesome name for one of your twin girls! My other favorite on your list would be [name]Lucia[/name], I really really love this name, I think it is so cute and would be lovely for a little girl
What about…
[name]Amelie[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is GORGEOUS! I think [name]Linnea[/name] and [name]Juliette[/name] or [name]Charlotte[/name] flow beautifully. I’m probably biased with [name]Linnea[/name] though, (thanks again for your post re. sibset to [name]Linnea[/name] and [name]Clementine[/name]!)
before I even read your entire post, when I saw [name]Amelie[/name], the first name I thought of was [name]Clara[/name] and I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Juliet[/name]. In fact, our next dd will probably be named [name]Clara[/name] [name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Amelie[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is a lovely name. [name]Clara[/name] goes so well with it. Have you considered using [name]Genevieve[/name] as the first name of the other twin? From your list, I like [name]Juliet[/name] and [name]Lucia[/name]. Some other ideas:
[name]Clara[/name] and [name]Julia[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] and [name]Tessa[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] and [name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] and [name]Cecilia[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] and [name]Antonia[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] and [name]Willa[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] and [name]Eva[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] and [name]Gemma[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] and [name]Sasha[/name]
I love [name]Amelie[/name]. It’s one of my favorites and [name]Amelie[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is beautiful. I agree with the PP that [name]Amelie[/name] has a vintage, french, elegant feel to it. Some other names that I think have the same feeling:
[name]Adelaide[/name]
[name]Arianne[/name]
[name]Astrid[/name]
[name]Celeste[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] (I do think this goes very well)
[name]Colette[/name] - I think [name]Amelie[/name], [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Colette[/name] are a great sibset
[name]Daphne[/name]
[name]Elise[/name]
[name]Eveline[/name]
[name]Hannah[/name]
[name]Iris[/name]
[name]Lisette[/name]
[name]Sophie[/name] (probably too popular though)
[name]Violet[/name]
[name]Vivienne[/name]
Thanks for the feedback and suggestions and compliments on [name]Amelie[/name]'s name!
In terms of suggestions, we have discussed a fair number of them.
I like [name]Charlotte[/name] a lot but my husband does not–this is probably my favorite of those suggested. I also like [name]Celeste[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name], and [name]Louisa[/name], he doesn’t.
He likes [name]Eloise[/name], [name]Elise[/name] and [name]Hannah[/name], I don’t.
We both like [name]Sophie[/name] and [name]Isabel[/name]–but they are too popular (and if we’re going to do popular, which is unlikely, we’d probably do [name]Olivia[/name] or [name]Audrey[/name]).
We both really like [name]Violet[/name] a lot but my husband/children’s last name is an animal name and I just don’t think a color/flower works for a first name in that situation (and to complicate things further, my last name is a color and so we are often know as the “color-animal” family.
I never thought we’d be this close to the due date without names chosen!
With [name]Amelie[/name] [name]Grace[/name] and [name]Clara[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] (This combo is in my top 3!), I like:
[name]Lucia[/name] [name]Giselle[/name]
[name]Linnea[/name] [name]Giselle[/name]
[name]Cecelia[/name]/[name]Cecily[/name] [name]Giselle[/name]
[name]Willa[/name] [name]Gwendolen[/name]
[name]Eliza[/name] [name]Gwendolen[/name]
[name]Helena[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name]
I noticed that two of your daughters would have G middle names, and thought that would be a nice connection for them to have (I think [name]Giselle[/name] is a gorgeous middle name, which is why so many of the combos have [name]Giselle[/name]!)
I forgot to mention how much I like [name]Olivia[/name] with [name]Amelie[/name] and your sib contenders. Beautiful. And I’d really try not to think about popularity, particularly your other names are less main-stream. The names together forge their own identity that I think the girls will carry and feel. Go with the names that stir your heart the most. Also, my husband and I weren’t able to decide on names until after both our girls were born. I kind of liked meeting them face to face before making that final decision. I love, however, how you knew so immediately your first would be [name]Amelie[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. Best of luck, I hope to hear what you choose!
