Names for identical twin boys

We’re expecting identical twin boys in a few weeks and are stuck for a name for one of them! The one name we’ve chosen is [name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Ryan[/name]. We’d originally thought of naming the other boy either [name]Jacob[/name] [name]Robert[/name] or [name]Jacob[/name] [name]Jonathan[/name], but with [name]Jacob[/name] so popular here (#1 locally) we’re rethinking it.

Please help! I’m having bad dreams about one boy being named [name]Ben[/name] while the other is forever known as [name]Baby[/name] B!

My husband and I have agreed on the following:

– no unisex names (love these on girls, not so much on boys)
– [name]William[/name], Alexnder, [name]Matthew[/name] and [name]Jack[/name] are out (family names)
– no names starting with B (they will look alike; don’t want matchy names) or D
– middle name does not have to be either Robert or Jonathan

Hubby’s last name starts with D and is three syllables (anglicized Lithuanian name), if that makes any difference.

Thanks so much for your suggestions!

Here are some ideas. Good luck and congrats!

[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Jonathan[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Nathaniel[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Samuel[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Theodore[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Daniel[/name]

I think all of these names sound good with [name]Benjamin[/name] without being matchy and provide a nice nickname like [name]Ben[/name].

[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Andrew[/name] (Ben and Drew)
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Daniel[/name] (Ben and Dan)
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]James[/name] (Ben and Jimmy)
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Christopher[/name] (Ben and Chris)
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Samuel[/name] (Ben and Sam)
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Lucas[/name] (Ben and Luke)
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Nicholas[/name] (Ben and Nick)
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Julian[/name] (Ben and Jude)
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Aaron[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Thomas[/name] (Ben and Tom) (Probably my favorite!)
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Charles[/name] (Ben and Charlie or Chuck)
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Henry[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Josiah[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Maxwell[/name] (or [name]Maximilian[/name]) ([name]LOVE[/name] [name]Ben[/name] and [name]Max[/name])
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Elijah[/name] (Ben and Eli)
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Christian[/name]
Benjamin and Timothy (Ben and Tim)

[name]Benjamin[/name] and… [name]Patrick[/name] (pat)
[name]Lewis[/name] ([name]Lew[/name])
[name]Joseph[/name] (joe)
[name]Nathan[/name] (nate)

I also second the suggestions of [name]Nathaniel[/name], [name]Theodore[/name] and [name]Nicholas[/name]!

Thank you very much for all of your ideas, lilyofthevalley, leonielee and backtomyroots. I really appreciate that you all looked at combinations that allowed for one-syllable nicknames – hubby’s surname is long, and we definitely want to be able to use nicknames.

I really like: [name]Jonathan[/name], [name]Nathaniel[/name]/[name]Nathan[/name], [name]Joseph[/name], [name]Andrew[/name], [name]Samuel[/name], [name]Nicholas[/name], [name]Thomas[/name] and [name]Maxwell[/name]. I like [name]Daniel[/name], too, but am unsure of the aliteration with my husband’s last name starting with D?

Now to narrow down the choices…

If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know. The ones given really capture the style of name we are looking for!

[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Evan[/name] ([name]Ben[/name] and [name]Evan[/name]) – cute
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Ian[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Noah[/name]

The first name that popped into my head was [name]Joseph[/name]–[name]Joseph[/name] and [name]Benjamin[/name] have a history together ([name]Jacob[/name] and [name]Rachel[/name]'s sons in the [name]Genesis[/name] story) without being matchy–so there’s a vote for [name]Joseph[/name]!
Congratulations and best wishes!

[name]Andrew[/name] was my first thought! It is perfect with [name]Benjamin[/name].

What about [name]Luke[/name]? I always thought [name]Benjamin[/name] & [name]Luke[/name] or [name]Ben[/name] & [name]Luke[/name] was a really great sibset. [name]Luke[/name] [name]Jonathan[/name] & [name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Ryan[/name] would be really sweet!

If not [name]Luke[/name], my vote goes to

  1. [name]Nathaniel[/name]
  2. [name]Maxwell[/name]

[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Gabriel[/name]

I quite like [name]Luke[/name] with [name]Benjamin[/name] too but otherwise my favourite choice would be [name]Nicholas[/name].

[name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Ryan[/name] and [name]Nicholas[/name] [name]Robert[/name]

or [name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Luke[/name] and [name]Nicholas[/name] [name]Ryan[/name]?

I like [name]Samuel[/name] or [name]Joseph[/name] with [name]Benjamin[/name]!

I say [name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Joseph[/name] ([name]Ben[/name] and [name]Joe[/name]). What a great story of brotherhood to share with them as they get older!

[name]Jonathan[/name] [name]Robert[/name]- [name]Jon[/name], [name]Nate[/name], [name]Nathan[/name]- great with [name]Ben[/name]! Good luck and congrats

[name]Ben[/name] and [name]Nate[/name] -very Cute

[name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Ryan[/name] and [name]Zachary[/name] [name]Jacob[/name] -[name]Ben[/name] and [name]Zac[/name]

[name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Jacob[/name] and [name]Ryan[/name] [name]Jonathan[/name] -[name]Ben[/name] and [name]Ryan[/name]

[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Quade[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Rhys[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Zane[/name]

Thank you so very much for all of these suggestions, everyone! I think hubby and I are leaning towards either [name]Joseph[/name] or [name]Jonathan[/name] to go with [name]Benjamin[/name], using [name]Robert[/name] as a middle name. We like the “J” names, for some reason. I also really liked [name]Nathan[/name] and [name]Samuel[/name], but hubby vetoed them.

I think we’ll probably keep [name]Joseph[/name], [name]Jonathan[/name] and [name]Jacob[/name] all on the table for now. Hopefully these little guys will stay put for a few more weeks and we’ll be able to decide by then.

[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Edward[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]William[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Theodore[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Aaron[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Jason[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Gabriel[/name]
[name]Benjamin[/name] and [name]Scott[/name]

Think we may go with [name]Andrew[/name] now! Hubby’s middle name and we like the combination with [name]Benjamin[/name]. [name]Andrew[/name] [name]James[/name], maybe.
