I’m trying to work on a project of mine, but I can’t seem to settle on the names for my two leads. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
First off we have [name_u]Orion[/name_u] Redfield. 14, American, curious, studious, sarcastic, unafraid to question another’s judgment or authority, gets jealous easily. Often follows his gut when it comes to decision making. He’s not confident in social situations, but he’s not half as awkward as he thinks he is. Loves reading and adores movies, fantasy and superheros being his favorite subjects, but can’t stand the romance genre of either medium.
As much as I adore the name [name_u]Orion[/name_u], I don’t think it fits him or the story. The story has a lot to do with magic and demons, and the name kinda comes outta left field and makes it sounds like I was trying too hard when I came up with him. I’d like a somewhat uncommon name, still, just one that doesn’t stick out as much, and works better with Redfield.
Next, we have [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] Warwick. 14, British, confident, calm, poised, intelligent, friendly, protective, a natural leader. Mature for his age. Tends to use his head more than Redfield, but is still very emotionally driven. Prone to bursts of contagious manic energy, especially when he finally figures out the answer to a riddle or puzzle (or just how to get to the answer). Dresses impeccably.
Despite Redfield being the main character, I honestly like Warwick better. I have a clear understanding of who he is and how I want to write him, unlike Redfield, who almost gave me an aneurism during my attempt to describe him above. [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] is a good name, but one I picked more for its meaning than the way it felt with his character or the story- and now the meaning doesn’t even really fit! For him, I’d like something that classic, elegant and powerful. Like [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] or [name_m]Anthony[/name_m], but not those- between his calm demeanor and his physical description he’s already too like another character already name [name_m]Anthony[/name_m]!
I like the descriptions of your characters, they sound pretty interesting. It’s a pity about [name_u]Orion[/name_u], it really does seem to fit the character and I do like the name.

I agree that [name_u]Orion[/name_u] is too much. I would go with a name that would be fairly common for an actual 14 year old American boy, like:
