I’m writing a fantasy story and as always I got stuck with names…
There are two particular characters that I am undecided about. Both of them are boys in their twenties.
The first one is a leader of a community of thieves. But he is kinda like Robin Hood, righteous and kind, although a bit reserved and pesimistic. He’s tall and lanky with dark hair, always looks a bit grumpy. He uses a nickname “Hawk”.
I was thinking some not so serious name, because he uses his nickname pretty much all the time… So he might or might not be ashamed of it…?
The names I considered for him are:

[name_m]Finnegan[/name_m]
The second one is a charming son of a sea smuggler. He’s a handsome young man with dark curly hair and amber eyes. He’s super cheerful and amusing, life of the party.
I am open to all submissions here, as I have no real image of what the name should be.

Sounds very interesting. All I could think about for your [name_m]Hawk[/name_m] character was Hawkeye [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] from MASH. That led me to think about the names

But based upon [name_u]Jules[/name_u] and [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m], I thought of

For your other character, I liked [name_u]Nico[/name_u]. I also thought of
[name_m]Perseus[/name_m] ([name_u]Percy[/name_u]) I really like this one.

I love Jules for your Robin Hood character!!! It could be a name he is somewhat embarrassed of (maybe named after a relative/ ancestor he doesn’t respect??? Or the association with “Jewels”) but it just seemed to FIT your description. I think Jules Finnegan (nn “Hawk”) is perfect!
The first name that came to mind for your second character is Jonquil. It just seems adventurous and cheeky yet full of charm. It has the traditional manly “Jon” sound coupled with the gender neutral, trendier, nature-y, softer “Quill” sound. It is a bold and charming name for somebody confident, charismatic, entertaining, a harmless and adventurous trickster and sexy as hell. It sounds like a sea smugglers son!!
I also wanted to add… my DREAM is to write a fantasy story with the main character named “Jonquil” somewhat fitting your description except with blonde hair and dark eyes. So I was hesitant to suggest it to you lol. But it seemed a perfect fit and I couldn’t think of anything else.
