I need some name ideas…but instead of in the single and sibset way…the love triangle way. I know. Call me crazy. [name]Love[/name] triangles and finding your sole mate play a huge factor in this novel I’m working on, so…
Triangle #1. [name]Mason[/name] has only loved once. His girlfriend died in a house fire and he blames himself and is full of guilt, he can’t stop thinking about her. She’s been dead for 12 years. [name]Katherine[/name] (nn. [name]Kate[/name]) is going to be the one to break down those walls of guilt. [name]Mason[/name], [name]Katherine[/name] (nn. [name]Kate[/name]), and …who is the dead girlfriend?
I want to call her [name]Layla[/name].
Triangle #2. [name]Annie[/name] was happy until she was attacked one night, beaten, and left for dead. It took her over a year to recover from her injuries. Her long-time, sports broadcaster boyfriend left her well she was in recovery…couldn’t handle it all. [name]Annie[/name] was hurt…still is, but he was her 2nd choice. Enter [name]James[/name] (nn. [name]Jimmy[/name]) her 1st choice, friend, person who knows her better then anyone but for numerous reason they’ve just never got together. They are both too stubborn to see what’s in front of them. [name]Annie[/name], [name]James[/name] (nn. [name]Jimmy[/name]), and …who is the runaway boyfriend?
Before reading your preference for [name]Layla[/name] in scenario 1, pictured a [name]Tricia[/name].
For scenario 2, I picture a hot, trendy, one-syllable name, probably with an A sound. I want to say [name]Gray[/name], but that’s too 50 Shades right now. [name]Cale[/name]? [name]Nate[/name]? [name]Dane[/name]?
I don’t mind [name]Tricia[/name] at all. I can see a Patricia but she goes by Tricia because she hates Pat and Patty. I can also see Trish, or Tish…a little different.
I know what you mean about the 50 Shades. I used to think [name]Gray[/name] was mysterious and different, but now…forget about using it anywhere in the writing department. It was on sale and it sold out. LOL
If you want to be all clever and allude to things, you could name the dead girlfriend [name]Lenore[/name]. If that’s not subtle enough for you, [name]Eleanor[/name] sounds fairly dead-girlfriend-esque, too.
I also like the sound of [name]Beth[/name] or [name]Julia[/name].
As for the runaway boyfriend, maybe [name]Max[/name] or [name]Kent[/name]?
I really like [name]Brady[/name] or [name]Max[/name] for the second one…even [name]Ben[/name] with the right surname.
For the dead girlfriend, I was thinking of something a little more…maybe spicy or posh, but not too childish. She was a makeup artist, tall dressed nice, and she had nice olive skin, warm brown eyes.

I don’t know about [name]Kent[/name]…I can’t get the whole [name]Clarke[/name] [name]Kent[/name] thing out of my mind. I image this guy to look something like this: http://i1064.photobucket.com/albums/u377/crissyc76/BenjaminBenMosby51133.jpg. This is his weekend look. Of course, when he’s on the air he is in a suit and is clean-shaven. [name]Just[/name] ignore that it’s [name]Brandon[/name] Barash from [name]General[/name] Hospital. By the way, we can’t call him [name]Johnny[/name]. LOL

Since the girlfriend has been dead for 12 years, she needs to have a name that is older -not something that’s trendy now, no? I like the idea of [name]Tricia[/name] (or another variant of [name]Patricia[/name]). Other ideas: [name]Jennifer[/name] nn [name]Jenna[/name] (to make it fresher sounding), [name]Tanja[/name], [name]Jessica[/name], [name]Allison[/name], [name]Kristy[/name] (or another variation of [name]Christina[/name]), [name]Nicole[/name]… I’m just listing names that seem to be popular for people my age -in their 30s.
For the absent boyfriend I first thought of [name]Todd[/name]. [name]Todd[/name]'s are nice and charming but not fully reliable lol! I hope I haven’t just insulted a whole bunch of people who know trustworthy Todds!!!
@lilysong…you are right about the “older” name. [name]Love[/name] all your suggestions. I really like the [name]Tricia[/name] angle. It totally fits. I’m going to go with it.
[name]Todd[/name]…it fits too.
Here are some names with some surnames. I’m just tossing these out there. I haven’t googled them to see if they are anyone famous. LOL We can mix n match too.
