I like [name]Ned[/name] and Eddard more than [name]Edward[/name]. I hate [name]Edward[/name] a lot though. [name]IRL[/name] I’d probably use [name]Edmund[/name] before Eddard but I don’t dislike Eddard.
[name]Caitlin[/name], [name]Circe[/name], and [name]Melisende[/name] I like with their real spellings.
Well unfortunately ‘[name]Aria[/name]’ has become trendy. So… Lyanna, [name]Myrcella[/name] & [name]Elia[/name] are nice but not too weird i think! Some others i like but they are strictly guilty pleasures.
I really like [name]Arya[/name]. I used to like the spelling [name]Aria[/name] but the character from Prettly [name]Little[/name] Liars kinda put me off.
[name]Bran[/name] is short for [name]Brandon[/name]
It’s sad that unless you read the book you’ll never know about [name]Asha[/name] ([name]Theon[/name]'s sister). Turns out she’s quite a main character yet somehow they thought her name was too close to Osha (a character who has about… fifteen pages of text before she disappears for three novels) to use. Ridiculous.
Her real name is [name]Jane[/name] Westerling and her story is far more interesting than the person they replaced her with
I have a fondness for Targaryen names. Off the top of my head, my favourites are: Aenys, Rhaenys, Visenya, Jaehaerys, Naerys, Elaena, Shiera, [name]Maelys[/name], Aemond, Rhaenyra, Aelinor, Matarys, Valarr, Rhaego, Viserys, [name]Daenerys[/name] etc. (because I’ve probably forgot half of them).
I also like Margaery (she’s also my favourite character, strongly followed by Stannis Baratheon), Illyrio, Alannys, Davos, Gendry, Renly and Victarion. My favourite full name is Salladhor Saan because it sounds so epic (how is it possible not loving the sound of that name).
Actually it’s Jeyne, but I agree with you completely [name]Talisa[/name] is bland compared to Jeyne.
Oops, lol, thanks. I’m usually good with the weird spellings but forgot about Jeyne. Funnily enough if I’d have written Jeyne Poole I would have spelt it like that
[name]Daenerys[/name], Visenya and [name]Bran[/name] are my favourites. And most of the ones [name]Zelia[/name] mentioned. And I think [name]Jon[/name] [name]Snow[/name] has a cool name (or is it me having a massive crush on [name]Kit[/name] [name]Harrington[/name]?).
I like so many names from GOT/ASOIAF it is ridiculous. I have [name]Arya[/name] on my list for girl’s. I have been contemplating adding Barristan to my boy’s list.
I love Sansa and [name]Daenerys[/name]. I’ve seen some comments before about using “Khaleesi” as a proper name, but most people wanted to change the spelling. It’s an invented term specific to the text, so I don’t know why anyone would want to change it. I do like it, though. I think it would be a lovely first name, too. I also like the new girl’s name, Missandei.
I would like [name]Theon[/name] as a name if it weren’t for what a wretched, reeking character he is.
I love Game of Thrones. [name]Arya[/name], [name]Bran[/name], and [name]Asha[/name] (from the books) are favorites of mine. All the names are pretty awesome.
I happen to love the majority of ASOIAF names, and the book series as well. I don’t think I’ve ever geeked out as much as I did at [name]Martin[/name]'s ADWD book signing (he actually answered my question!). The majority of my favorites have been mentioned (Rhaegar, Nymeria, and Ygritte) so I’ll add Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion. Plus the surnames are terrific! Lannister, Stark, Targaryen, Greyjoy, Baratheon, [name]Marcell[/name], etc…
Also, though technically not his real name, I have a soft spot for Reek. ([name]Don[/name]'t google this if you haven’t read ADWD or don’t want anything being spoiled for you.)
I spent a decent amount of time going through the name lists at the back of the books. I don’t have my copy of the fifth book with me right now (otherwise I’d list some of my favorites), but in this process of researching baby names, I had taken rather extensive notes in the margins back there about some of the names I particularly liked. [name]Even[/name] many of the minor characters who are only barely mentioned in the books have some pretty awesome names. For awhile we were even strongly thinking about using the double middle name [name]Danae[/name] [name]Rose[/name], and one of the reasons I was so attracted to it (among other reasons) was that it’s sound is so similar to [name]Daenerys[/name].
