I was watching Supernanny and a divorced mother had 6 kids with somewhat different names.
Mother: [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]
Kids:
[name_m]Loughlin[/name_m] (f): Age 13
[name_u]Aidan[/name_u] (f): Age 12
[name_m]Daly[/name_m] (prn. [name_m]Daily[/name_m]) (m): Age 9
[name_f]Moira[/name_f] (prn. moy-rah) (f): Age 8
[name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] (f): Age 5
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] (m): Age 3
That’s bizarre, I was watching this exact episode three days ago and wanted to make a thread like this!
I don’t like [name_m]Loughlin[/name_m], [name_m]Daly[/name_m] and [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f]. I love [name_u]Aidan[/name_u], [name_f]Moira[/name_f] is sweet and [name_u]Finn[/name_u] is OK (I have [name_u]Aiden[/name_u] and [name_u]Finn[/name_u] as a nn for [name_u]Finley[/name_u] on my list).
They’re all very unique, except [name_u]Aidan[/name_u], which goes along nicely with [name_f]Blythe[/name_f].
That is bizarre! The episode literally just ended. I love [name_u]Aidan[/name_u] (despite its popularity), [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], and [name_u]Finn[/name_u]
I like [name_u]Aidan[/name_u] (this spelling is very special to me), [name_f]Moira[/name_f] and [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f]. I’m not a fan of the weird spellings though.
I don’t think they’re too different, I feel they’re all very deliberately/obviously Irish or Scottish.
I love [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], [name_f]Moira[/name_f], & [name_u]Finn[/name_u], and also [name_m]Loughlin[/name_m], I think it’s a form of [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m], which I love. I’m really happy [name_u]Aidan[/name_u]'s spelt how it’s meant to be, in it’s original form, but it’s not exactly a favourite. [name_m]Daly[/name_m]'s kind of cute too. I love Supernanny, but it doesn’t seem to come on much anymore.
Edit: Oh, wait, I didn’t see the genders! I definitely only like Aidan and Loughlin for boys!
[name_m]Loughlin[/name_m] (f): Age 13–…okay, I don’t like it on either gender.
[name_u]Aidan[/name_u] (f): Age 12–Not on a girl.
[name_m]Daly[/name_m] (prn. [name_m]Daily[/name_m]) (m): Age 9–NMS
[name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] (f): Age 5–NMS. Why not [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], or [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], or [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]?
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] (m): Age 3–YES! It’s my absolute favorite name.
Kids:
Loughlin - Dislike, not a fan of Lachlan in general.
Aidan - I prefer Aideen for a girl, but I adore Aidan for a boy. It’s still ok.
Daly: It’s fine.
Moira: Like a lot.
Elspeth: Like a lot. I think it goes well with the sibset, being so definitely Scottish. Elizabeth would be out of step with the others. And Elsie/Elsa I don’t get as a substitution, it loses the UK-ish feel of the rest of the names and is more girly than seems to be her style. Elspeth I also just like more than Elsa/Elsie which are pretty repulsive.
Finn (m): Adorable, though I might go with Finnian or Finnegan.
I like Moira and Elspeth the best. Aidan would win for me on a boy, but Finn is quite nice itself.
This sibset has a very Gaelic-y/Celtic-y feel to it, and I like that that somehow ties them all together. However, individually, I only like [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f]. I think [name_u]Aidan[/name_u] on a female and [name_m]Daly[/name_m] are sort of terrible…
I watched some of this episode, but I tend to get very frustrated with the parents on this show, so I usually end up turning it off before the end! As for the names, I agree with others that [name_m]Loughlin[/name_m] and [name_u]Aidan[/name_u] would be great on boys, but I really don’t like them on girls (I also prefer [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] to [name_m]Loughlin[/name_m]). I like [name_f]Moira[/name_f] and [name_u]Finn[/name_u], but [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] is definitely my favourite - love that name! Overall, its a really cool Gaelic/Celtic sibset!
I think it is a pretty awful sibset. A girl named [name_u]Aiden[/name_u]? A girl named [name_m]Loughlin[/name_m]? Yikes. [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and [name_f]Moira[/name_f] are decent.
