[name]Genevieve[/name]- a girl about 8 (first time I have actually heard name used)
[name]Oakley[/name]- girl baby born about 2 1/2 weeks ago at our church
[name]Blake[/name]- girl about 4 1/2 at playground yesterday (called Blakie as nn)
[name]Scout[/name]- sister of [name]Blake[/name] who was 1 1/2-2 seen at playground
[name]Zander[/name]- brother to [name]Scout[/name] and [name]Blake[/name] who was about 3 1/2 and seen at playground
[name]Winston[/name]- a boy about three seen at a nearby historic attraction
Anyone want to add real names you have overheard children under about ten being called by in stores, playgrounds, etc.?
And I also volunteer in the NICU and holy moly there are some nutty names in there. Next time I’m there I’ll make a mental note of some of them. Off the top of my head though Myi-ariah (pn my-area), [name]Axel[/name] (triplet to [name]Jansen[/name] and a little girl whose name I’m blanking on), Mykael (me-kay-el), [name]Nancy[/name] (not weird, just so dated for a wee one today [name]IMO[/name]), Kainaan (as in [name]Canaan[/name]). Of course there’s been a decent amount of [name]Joshua[/name]'s, [name]Elijah[/name]'s, [name]Jackson[/name]'s, etc. Only one [name]Ava[/name] though, shocking. And a good amount of more traditional names like [name]Mary[/name], [name]Margaret[/name], [name]Henry[/name], [name]Matthew[/name], etc.
My friend told me her NCT class’s baby names today (we are in the UK). If I can remember all of them, they were: [name]Arthur[/name], [name]Frederick[/name], [name]Robert[/name], [name]Tallulah[/name], [name]Olivia[/name], [name]Hannah[/name], [name]Ruby[/name]. Mostly quite predictable, although you don’t see many [name]Roberts[/name] these days. I’m glad to see [name]Arthur[/name] on the rise.
I met my first [name]Finn[/name] today- he was three months old and a real cutie! I know this name is popular right now but he was the first I’ve actually met!
I also met a [name]Georgia[/name] (first I have ever met) who was about 21 mths. and shopping with her aunt and I recently met a boy at a playground named [name]Brooks[/name] and a girl at the same playground named [name]Jasmine[/name].
It’s interesting that children with classic names have siblings with classic names most of the time. For example…
And those with crazy/weird (ugly, I might add, sometimes) are also in sibling sets. Like the [name]Scout[/name], [name]Zander[/name], [name]Blake[/name] trio.
Also interesting is that a child with a popular name right now will also have a sibling with a really popular name too…
