[name_f]My[/name_f] husband just vetoed my favorite boy name in the world, [name_m]Archer[/name_m] Now I have to start from scratch to find a name as unique but a little more “grown up” and less “out there” (husband quotes, lol). Does anyone have ideas about similar boy names?
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite girl name is [name_u]Eden[/name_u], which my husband approved. I also like names like [name_u]Harper[/name_u], [name_f]Scarlette[/name_f], [name_f]Kiera[/name_f], [name_u]Ember[/name_u] and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] for a girl. [name_m]Elian[/name_m], [name_u]Corin[/name_u], [name_m]Ronan[/name_m], [name_m]Ryder[/name_m], [name_m]Ethan[/name_m], [name_m]Declan[/name_m] and [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] for a boy though none of those seem quite so perfect [name_m]Archer[/name_m] to me. Hubs has also vetoed [name_m]Declan[/name_m] and [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] already, and [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] is just too common so I won’t be going with those for sure.
[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] and [name_m]Asher[/name_m], [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] has the same outdoorsy feel to it and [name_m]Asher[/name_m] has a similar sound, but softer

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Fletcher[/name_m]?
[name_m]Archer[/name_m] is definitely not “out there”, it’s gaining popularity. I honestly don’t like names “like [name_m]Archer[/name_m]”, like [name_m]Gunner[/name_m], [name_u]Hunter[/name_u], [name_m]Ryder[/name_m], [name_m]Tanner[/name_m], etc. but I really like [name_m]Archer[/name_m]! And I love the nn [name_m]Archie[/name_m]. Would he go for [name_m]Archibald[/name_m]? Although if he thinks [name_m]Archer[/name_m] is “out there” then he probably will really think [name_m]Archibald[/name_m] is. If he REALLY dislikes the name, I think you should choose another name. But just ask him to think about the name some more, say it outloud once in a while. When I was trying to get my husband to like a name when I was pregnant with my son, I wrote it on the whiteboard above his desk: First and Last name, so he could get used to the idea of seeing it…It worked and he ended up loving the name!
