My husband and I are expecting our first baby (a boy!) in [name]December[/name] and despite my best efforts and years of being obsessed with names, we just can’t agree on anything.
I love the names [name]Eli[/name] (or [name]Elijah[/name]), [name]Asher[/name] and [name]Levi[/name], but he hates them. He is insisting on [name]Ari[/name], which i also like, but can’t bring myself to use due to it already being used by my cousin for her son.
I would love any suggestions that you have for boy’s names that are unusual without being weird, are definitely masculine, shorter rather than longer (1-2 syllables) and have a cool (but not passing fad) ring to them.
What about [name]Avi[/name]? It can be short for [name]Avram[/name], [name]Avraham[/name], [name]Avner[/name], [name]Avital[/name], Aviya, and [name]Avshalom[/name]. Also:
[name]Gidon[/name]
[name]Tal[/name]
[name]Eitan[/name]
Lior
[name]Gad[/name]
[name]Ira[/name]
[name]Noam[/name]
Joram
[name]Joel[/name]
[name]Jotham[/name]
[name]Lazar[/name]
[name]Dov[/name]
As per today’s blog, I’m going to second the above suggestion of [name]Ezra[/name]. It’s the first name that came to mind when reading your list of [name]Eli[/name], [name]Ari[/name], and [name]Levi[/name]. I love the name [name]Ezra[/name] :o
Of the other suggestions given, I also like: [name]Zane[/name]! Super cool name!
I agree that [name]Avi[/name] is a great idea. It’s uncommon, yet traditional, and is similar to both [name]Eli[/name] and [name]Ari[/name]. Have you considered [name]Ori[/name]? It’s used quite often in [name]Israel[/name], it means “my light” in Hebrew, and it’s reminiscent of other names you like. It can also be a nickname for [name]Oren[/name], which gets a ton of use in [name]Israel[/name] as well. You also might like [name]Ezri[/name] (or [name]Ezra[/name]).
If I were you I’d use [name]Avi[/name]- I know an [name]Avi[/name] and he loves his name. I personally prefer [name]Ari[/name] slightly but [name]Avi[/name] is just as handsome. It may be too close for comfort with the cousin for you, though. In that case, I like [name]Levi[/name]. [name]Love[/name] [name]Ori[/name] but it really is close to [name]Ari[/name].
