Names like Ivy

hello berries,

i have extremely positive associations with the name [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. around where i live this name is uncommon but not unheard of, and the two gals i’ve known with this name have been really wonderful people. however, i have recently learned that my husband has negative associations with the name, so i no longer have it on my shortlist. however, i still really like the botanical and spirited feel of [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. what names would you suggest with a similar feel as i seek to replace the name on my shortlist?

thank you for your ideas in advance

For botanical flair. A few others that might fit in the same feel:

Eve Eva Ava

Edit: Sorry, a couple more. Adair, Fay(e) and Gaia have the same spirited vibe to me as Ivy does
Last Edit, I swear: Azalea, Sage, Calla, Zinnia

these are lovely! my favorites from this list are rose & ruby. thank you!

I think violet & hazel also really match the feel I’m looking for! for some reason these don’t feel quiteee right to me, but very much on track!

When I think of [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] I automatically think of [name_f]Iris[/name_f] as an alternative. [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is a lovely botanical name really sweet, spirited and pretty. She has gorgeous nostalgic vintage vibes with the lovely meaning ‘rainbow’ perfect for a baby born in trying times. [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is beautiful.

Floral Names

[name_u]Willow[/name_u]
[name_u]Hazel[/name_u]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] (Poppy, Penny)

[name_f]Liana[/name_f] (you could elongate it to Liliana)

I think [name_f]Lily[/name_f] has a similar feel because they both end in “y”, but [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is the most similar-sounding to [name_f]Ivy[/name_f].

[name_f]Aviva[/name_f] is bright and energetic and fun to say, just like [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], and emphasizes Ivy’s prominent “v.” It also has a subtle nature (and maybe botanical) tie because of its spring-y meaning!

[name_f]Clover[/name_f] is energetic and fun to say, shares Ivy’s “v,” and has the sweetest botanical association with its connotations of good luck!

[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] borrows Ivy’s fun long “e” ending and offers sunshine-y botanical imagery in spades.

[name_u]Eden[/name_u]’s bright long “e” sound reminds me of Ivy’s long “i,” and although it might not be botanical in the traditional sense, maybe its garden connection could carry it there?

[name_f]Iris[/name_f] shares Ivy’s long “i” sound, short-and-sweet but spirited vibe, and lovely botanical imagery.

[name_f]Olive[/name_f] picks up on Ivy’s spunky “v” sound, fun energy, and botanical charm.

[name_u]Nova[/name_u] echoes Ivy’s punchy, spirited energy, shares that “v,” and while it isn’t botanical I think you could argue for a pretty fabulous nature tie (supernova!).

[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] has spirit and spunk to spare, shares Ivy’s, long “e,” and although not botanical it has a lovely nature link!

[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] also shares the vibrant “v” sound plus Ivy’s long “e” ending, and has a sweet (slightly subtle) nature connection.

[name_u]Ivory[/name_u] is [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] with another syllable.
