I’ve recently been crushing on [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is iffy due to a potential weird familial thing, but [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is really sweet.
However, I was shocked to learn that [name_f]Nora[/name_f] outranks [name_f]Anna[/name_f] in the US! [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is at 30 and [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is at 68. I’m slowly letting go of the desire for something to be less common/more unique, however, [name_f]Nora[/name_f] may be slightly more popular than I’d prefer.
Our style is sort of vintage, sort of cool, sort of classic. Any more common first name would likely have a more unexpected or quirky middle (or even a family surname because I love that tradition!).
So, what names do you like that are similar to [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f]?
@hannahwren [name_f]Dinah[/name_f] is interesting! Biblical, which I like. I’m not sure if I could get past the song though…
@Teabelle thank you! I adore [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] but DH is iffy. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Adele[/name_f] are ones I’ve heard but haven’t really considered - they are really pretty! And I sort of love the idea of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] with a double name. I’ve known a few (Mary [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Michael[/name_u], and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] Claire) and always loved their names.
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] is my daughter! [name_f]Nora[/name_f] was on our list but couldn’t use because of a close family. [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is our other daughter, maybe your style?
Also loved - olive, [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_u]Hazel[/name_u], [name_f]Cora[/name_f]

I’d love to hear you thoughts.
I started at the bottom of the Top 1000 list for 2020 on the SSA site and worked my way up looking for names that might fit your style. I stayed below the top 50, and there are so many lovely names!
Wow, I didn’t know that Nora now outranks Anna! Nutty!!

@Beth101 I adore [name_f]Anna[/name_f]! [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is lovely with her as well.
We’ve discussed [name_f]Olive[/name_f] briefly in the past and we both like her. Our last name is a city name though and part of me is worried that it’ll sound like “all of ____”.
Warming up to Cora…I still prefer [name_f]Nora[/name_f], I think. But I do love [name_u]Hazel[/name_u]! And I don’t think I personally know of any so that’s a plus!
