Names meaning yin-yang?

I’m looking for names that have a similar meaning to yin-yang: “how apparently opposite or contrary forces are actually complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world, and how they give rise to each other as they interrelate to one another. Many tangible dualities (such as light and dark, fire and water, and male and female) are thought of as physical manifestations of the duality of yin and yang” (from Wikipedia). Any thoughts or ideas?

My husband and I are looking for a mn for our daughter, due 3/2. We’ve decided on [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] as her fn, and our last name is 2 syllables starting with a B.

Thanks!

[name_f]Erin[/name_f]

That is very interesting…I will begin thinking and get back to you!

Not exactly what you’re searching for-- but similar ( maybe?). [name_f]Goddess[/name_f] names ( all the things you listed above out there, but maybe not together):

[name_f]Enid[/name_f]
[name_f]Belinda[/name_f]
[name_f]Gaia[/name_f]

I’m hard pressed to come up with a single name that means yin yang, however there are plenty of names meaning one or the other (in essence). Would you consider a double middle name? Would work especially well with short [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] ([name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]).

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Keira[/name_f] [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] – dark/light for yin/yang
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Selina[/name_f] Tesni – [name_f]Moon[/name_f]/[name_f]Sun[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Artemisia[/name_f] [name_f]Solveig[/name_f] – moon goddess / daughter of the sun.
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Vespera[/name_f] [name_u]Dagny[/name_u] – [name_f]Evening[/name_f] / [name_u]Day[/name_u]

Tried to keep to positive opposites (rather than pretty/homely or strong/weak or something like that). A little pressed for time but just wanted to throw these out there as ideas. Could obviously use all kinds of complimentary / opposing terms in looking for names.

Sophrosnia or Sophrosyne? Both are derived from the Greek concept of temperance which, while not quite yin-yang, is definitely associated with balance.
There’s also Haru (陽), a Japanese name which means “yang” (among other things).

Nice idea! I don’t know about those specific example names, but it’s a great approach to the question/problem and something I’m going to look into. Thanks!!

That’s another good approach – names that mean peace, harmony, or balance. Thanks!

Names meaning “transition” could also be good, since she’ll be born around the time when winter is turning into spring. Any thoughts?
