The “more correct” pronunciation would be Kai-lum. However, being from the South, I’ve always heard it called Kay-lum. I personally think either would work, although others may disagree. It’s Latin for “heavenly” or “the chisel”… It’s a constellation in the Southern Sky, which used to be known as the “Engraver’s Chisel” or Caelum Scalptorium. I’ve only seen it on a boy once, but I found it to be a refreshing alternative to [name]Callum[/name], [name]Colin[/name], etc.

[name]Just[/name] one quick note about Caelum. I also think this is a great name (a few months back we though it might be the one we would go with), and yeah, as far as I’ve been able to discover (I did quite a bit of research on this name a few months back) ‘kai-lum’ would be the ‘correct’ pronunciation in Classic Latin (if there are any people who know Latin around here, they might be able to confirm or not confirm this). However, the constellation is usually pronounced as ‘see-lum’ (as in [name]Caesar[/name]), which is the correct pronunciation in Ecclesiastical Latin.
It’s meaning is ‘sky’ (as far as I was able to discover, Caelum is a direct translation of the word ‘sky’, so it’s actually a word, thus it’d actually be a word name. The meaning ‘sculptor’s chisel’ isn’t actually the meaning of the name itself, but the constellation Caelum is called this).
